Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Karzzzz is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1980s film about reincarnation. The leading lady of the remake is director Indra Kumar’s daughter Shweta who will make her debut opposite the actor-singer-composer in
Karzzzz. While Shweta is cast in the role-played by Tina Munim in the original blockbuster, Reshammiya steps into the shoes of Rishi
Kapoor.

| Actress Urmila Matondkar will play a super-glamorous 50-plus woman who lives in isolated splendour in a castle wears the most stunning clothes and plays out life queen-size. She will be riding horses, flying planes and gambling the night away in casinos. Urmila say’s "The character will be an ageless diva. A very stylish and super-exclusive heiress and her clothes and demeanor will reflect a kind of inherent glamour." Urmila's favorite costume designer Manish Malhotra has worked on her clothes that will reflect the character's diva-like splendor.

There’s a one reason why all Reshammiya fans can look forward to this one he will be seen without his trademark cap and will wear his long locks loose.
Satish Kaushik’s Karz will be very different from Subhash Ghai’s original. What will remain are three of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s songs namely Dard-e-Dil, Om Shanti Om and the theme song Ek Haseena Thi. This gives Himesh who sees himself as L-P’s inheritor, a chance to pay homage to his raga-models.
Dard-e-dil is, in fact, one of Himesh’s all-time favourite songs. Himesh insisted on having it in Karzzz. “But even the adapted songs will be interpreted in a new way. They’ll be sung and re-designed by Himesh and just as in the original, the theme Ek Hasina Thi will be used in the background throughout my film”, Satish informs.
T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original film. |
