| Sarkar Raj is the planned sequel to Sarkar (2005). While Sarkar was inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's film ‘The Godfather’, the sequel is completely original. Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen first time acting together in a film where they all have defined and substantial roles. |

One of the most anticipated films of this year bringing together the powerful father-son jodi of Amitabh and Abhishek this time the expectations will only multiply as bahu Aishwarya Rai also joins the cast of Sarkar Raj and will be seen for the first time in a film with hubby dearest after their marriage last year.

| Sarkar Raj will have a distinct and different look than the original film. Sarkar Raj will have a much more lush texture. Ram Gopal Varma states that besides the mafia backdrop, the film is a character driven drama with a socio-political plot in the vein of The Godfather trilogy. He also states it's a film about the triumph of the human spirit and a father-son relationship. Abhishek plays Shankar Nagre who has now taken charge of the empire which his father Subhash Nagre (Big B) had built while Aishwarya would be seen in the role of a shrewd businesswoman.

On April 20 first look of the film was unveiled incidentally, the day also marked the first wedding anniversary of Abhishek and
Aishwarya. While Big B graced the event personally Abhi-Ash made their presence felt in a virtual way via video-conferencing.

The film has a power packed performance by Abhishek Bachchan. The critics appreciated his character in Sarkar and again this time he has portrayed an equally promising role. Ramu explains “We have intentionally kept Mr.Bachchan in the background and Abhishek more prominently in the forefront because it essentially means that there has been a transfer of power from the old guard to the new guard.” Reportedly Ash character is quite similar to Rebecca
Mark-Jusbasche head of International division of Enron. Sarkar Raj will be released on 6 June 2008.
Synopsis:
When Anita Rajan
(Aishwarya Rai - Bachchan), CEO of Sheppard power plant, an international Company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural
Maharashtra, before the Nagre's and insightful Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) is quick to realize the benefits the power plant can bring to the people. After convincing Sarkar
(Amitabh Bachchan) who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilize support of the masses.
However, things are not what they seem to be, from shady fixers with an eye on multi-million kickbacks or wannnabe Shankars that are ready to incite millions of people against the highly controversial project in a state that is witnessing the worst of coalition politics.
Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield, it is in this backdrop the evil forces mightier than ever, mushroom and gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.
