After success of TZP there is focus on kids centred movies so we have one more film coming titled Paathshala starring Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia, Nana Patekar, Sunil Shetty and lot of child artists. The film, which is directed by award-winning Marathi film director, Milind Ukey, is set against the backdrop of the Indian education system.
Produced by Ahmed Khan the film has Shahid playing an English and music teacher who helps nurture a bunch of naughty and troubled kids. The similarity with Aamir Khan 's superhit 'TZP' is unmistakable. And producer Ahmed Khan, who is also a good friend of Shahid, does not deny this. Ahmed says 'Paathshala' is inspired from TZP but it is an original film because its script was written a year before TZP was released. Equally excited about the film is Shahid who has always adored Aamir, and looked up to him as someone worth emulating.
Shahid has managed to touch everyone's heart recently with his performances in Jab We Met and Kismat Konnection. Now, it only remains to be seen if he can strike the emotional chord of the audiences, yet again, with Paathshala.
Paathshala revolves around kids and is set in the school campus. Shahid Kapur, Nana Patekar, Ayesha Takia are playing essential characters. The film has child artists like Swini Khare (Cheeni Kum), Ali Haji (Partner) and Dwij Yadav (Nanhe Jaisalmer) in pivotal roles.
Shahid plays a teacher who teaches English and Music. Nana Patekar is playing the role of the Principal, and Ayesha Takia is a teacher who looks into the extra curricular activities. Besides them, there is Sushant Singh and Saurabh Shukla in the film as well. The story also has the plot of a school kid played by Mehnaaz, who falls in love with her teacher (Shahid).
All the songs in the film are very script-driven, there is no special choreography done for them. The four songs in the film only help to take the story further.
In brief Paathshala is an entertaining film with a big social message.
