Hook Ya Crook tells the story of Viraj Pradhan, a boy with unlimited passion for the game of cricket and who aspires to play for the Indian Team one day! Alas, it seems like his dream will always remain a dream when he is sentenced to a maximum-security prison due to his reckless behaviour.
In the prison, he discovers that the dangerous inmates are as passionate about the game as him and soon he is in huge demand... thanks to his talent! With his new rag-tag group of friends, a tyrannical warden and his never ending lust for the game, Viraj renews his search for a way to achieve his dream of playing cricket for India!
Hook Ya Crook revolves around Viraj Pradhan (played by John Abraham), who lands up in a maximum-security prison. Viraj hopes to become a cricketer, and fulfil his father's dream. He wants to escape the jail, something no one has ever done before. But Viraj plans to escape by Hook ya Crook.
Viraj shares his cell with Shreyas, playing a conman. His character can get whatever one needs behind bars, and so inmates rely on him for necessities like cigarettes and alcohol.
Ashutosh Rana plays the strict Warden while Yashpal Sharma and Murli Sharma play his assistants. Kay Kay Menon plays a convict, along with Govinda's nephew Krushna, a gay inmate, and Sharad Kapoor and Pawan Malhotra, playing gang leaders in jail. Genelia D'Souza plays Viraj's girlfriend.
