R. Balakrishnan’s next project has Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in a very different kind of a role. Unlike real life, the film portrays Amitabh Bachchan as Abhishek Bachchan’s son. Amitabh suffers from Progeria, a rare congenital abnormal characteristics where the person ages rapidly. Amitabh is shown to have these rare characteristics in the film. Paa is a very sensitive story, which tells about the relationship between a father and son with the ailment as the backdrop. The music of the film is composed by South Indian music legend Maestro Ilayaraja.

Abhishek and Vidya sport two looks in the film, one as the young, romantic couple and the other as a mature, married couple distressed by their son’s condition. Abhishek plays a politician in the film. A lot of attention is given to costumes used in the movie, major portions shows Abhishek wearing a white kurta pyjama.
Life seems to have come a full circle for Amitabh Bachchan. The 67-year-old star, who has already spent 40 years of his life in Bollywood, will be introduced as a novice actor in the credit titles of the film. The credits will read ‘Starring Abhishek Bachchan…Vidya Balan… Introducing Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan’s transformation into the 12-year-old was so complete that he behaved like a child of that age even when the camera was not on. So startling and complete was his physical and emotional transformation that members of the unit were taken aback. His character is named Auro… if there are any members of the audience who haven’t seen him before, they won’t recognise him at all in the film. Vidya play’s a charming mom to Amitabh.
