Asked if it is his conscious decision not to kiss on screen or an instruction from his wife, he says, "I want to make it clear that there is no restriction from my wife for anything. She never objected even earlier. So whether I am going to kiss an actress or not is totally my decision not my wife’s decision.”
Is actor Emraan Hashmi sexy? Well, the girls find him sexy enough to have posters of him on their bedroom walls. He is the new pin-up poster boy. “I’ve never believed I’m sexy. How can a guy be ‘sexy’? I don’t understand! Girls are sexy! I mean look at them”.
You’re married now, and wife could well be reading, we remind him. “Oh, she knows me too well…” he says almost immediately.
So, as a youngster, was Emraan a skirt chaser and a good one at that? “You’re asking me that question because of the kind of films I do. Skirt chaser, well, of course. I’m normal, you know!
Playing a college guy in Good Boy Bad Boy, what were Emraan’s college days like? “I am no role model for that,” he warns “I’ve attended just four lectures in 5 years, out of which I was thrown out of class for chewing gum once and another time wasn’t allowed to enter class as I was late.”
Talking about the young Emraan Hashmi, after his twenty or so on-screen smooches, does he even remember his first crush? “It was at the age of five. She lived in our neighbourhood,” he says, smirking.
We quickly ask him of his more recent rift with Himesh Reshammiya. He laughs it off saying; “People say I’m upset with him because he’s copying my style of dressing. Have you ever seen me wear a cap? And about orchestrating his not composing for Train, how can I decide who the music composer of the film will be? That decision is entirely up to the filmmakers.”
With all well on the professional front, how is life post marriage? Has Emraan changed - become more responsible and all that?
“No, life is like what it always used to be. It’s pleasant, happy, fun… I haven’t changed. Guys just don’t grow up, anyway!”
