| Lately the leading bollywood queen Rani Mukherjee has been keeping quite a low profile. She was off media from last many months was not even seen attending too many film functions apart from that of Yash raj film’s. But now it seems the tightly guarded secret of Rani Aditya Chopra romance is out in open. |

According to a source close to the family, “The roka
(engagement) took place at the same Chopra bungalow where Chandni was shot. Around 60 people (family and friends) attended the ceremony that included Rani’s parents Ram and Krishna Mukherjee, brother Raja and his wife. Present from the Chopra clan was brother Uday, dad Yash Chopra and mum Pamela Chopra.”
Jugal Hansraj (Uday’s close pal), Anupam and Kirron Kher also attended the ceremony. Adds our source, “Rani wore a maroon saari with silver embroidery and Aditya wore a kurta-pyjama, both designed by designer Pallavi Jaikishan. Pam aunty didn’t seem very happy, as she has a soft corner for Adi’s ex-wife, Payal. Another function will take place at Rani’s house next week.”

Also buzz is that after marriage Rani is not going to live in the Chopra house. Instead Aditya will live in the house, Rani has recently bought.

Bollywood is abuzz with rumours of a showdown between Yash Chopra and his son Aditya over the latter's impending divorce from his wife Payal and engagement to Rani. Filmdom's most powerful family business is facing its biggest crisis yet. Aditya and Payal, who is the daughter of close family friends of the Chopras, got married in 2001. But the strain in the relationship began to show soon after, with Aditya Chopra moving out of home for a while before starting divorce proceedings.
What sets this divorce apart from others is that it has directly put the Rs 1000 crore plus Yashraj empire at stake. Sources at YRF studios in Andheri say that father and son have stopped speaking to each other but the relationship reached a flashpoint recently when, upset with Aditya Chopra's decision to press ahead with the divorce proceedings, Yash Chopra threatened to disinherit him.

"There was a showdown between the father and the son and in a fit of rage Yash uncle asked Adi to move out of the family business," confirms a source close to the Chopra family on the condition of anonymity. "Yash Chopra and Adi do talk to each other in office when required but as far as their personal equation is concerned I wouldn't know anything," said YRF spokesperson Monica Bhattacharya when asked to comment on the fight.
The family business is now virtually run by the reclusive Aditya Chopra and he is clearly acknowledged as the mastermind behind the stupendous success of Yashraj Films. It was his initiative to build the state of-the-art Yashraj Studios at Andheri and the interiors of which were done up by Payal herself. At the same time Yash Chopra remains the studio's auteur-director and commands tremendous goodwill in Bollywood.
