| While younger son Uday is smitten over Tanisha Mukherji’s over-exposure, and wants to marry her as soon as possible.
Reacting to news reports, which stated that Yashraj’s last two films Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom haven’t done well, insider from Yashraj says, “It has become a fad to run down Yashraj these days. If a film from a smaller banner flops, it isn’t big news, but if a film from Yashraj doesn’t do well, it is big news. For the record, just the other day a respected TV channel went on air to say how Ta Ra Rum Pum was now the second highest grosser of 2007.” What about reports that both Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra were at loggerheads and that it was now Aditya Chopra who was in charge of matters, we enquired.
“That story holds no water. Yashji and Adi not being at loggerheads doesn’t make a good story, hence the speculation. We cannot stop rumourmongers from speculating, and neither can we keep refuting such baseless stories. At the rate such rumours are being played up, we will be doing nothing else but clarifying stories.” Was it true that Adi was now in charge and Yashji was not creatively involved in the last two films as alleged? “Yash Chopra is the Chairman of Yashraj Films, Aditya Chopra is the Vice Chairman of the company. So there is no question of there being a clash. How can a company function without either of them?” Further questioned on the report that the promos of Chakde had to be taken off theatres because of poor response, the source replied, “That is not true at all.”
Now Chopra’s is leaving nothing to chance especially after the not so- happening response to both – Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Latest from the camp is that Adi is involved in every minute detail of the next three movies – Chak De India, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle. He is also looking into the scripting of the two soon-to-goon- the-floors movies, directed by Kunal Kohli and Siddharth Raaj Anand.
Isn’t it time for Yashraj Films to pull in the reigns over production house and finally start coming up with the quality films and with films that are all gloss, no substance. Hope that in future we will be entertained with some brilliant work for which the banner is known from so many years because expectations are always high with the premier production house at the helm of affairs.
