Saif Ali Khan, who had played a character with gay overtones in Karan Johar’s Kal Ho Na Ho in 2003, refused to play a similar character in Karan Johar’s upcoming flick to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani. |

| Saif did not want to play any character that linked him in anyway to gay phenomenon and wanted to keep his masculine image intact (perhaps… for Bengali bombshell Bips…no?). But John Abraham has no problem in playing such character and has lapped up the offer from Karan Johar camp to play the role with gay overtones. |

As a source reveals, ‘ Saif Ali Khan opted out of Karan’s film only because his role required him to play a man pretending to be gay. His role is similar to that of John Ritter in the American sitcom- Three’s Company, where his character has to pretend to be gay so that his prudish landlord permits him to live with female flat mates.’

Earlier, it was being said that Saif opted out of Karan Johar’s film because of unavailability of dates in October but that was not the case. Then another reason being given was that Saif denied featuring in Mansukhani’s film, as he was not pleased with his role, which was not substantial enough in comparison to others like Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. The grapevine was abuzz with the rumours that he was not doing the film because of the fears that the husband-wife pair of Abhi- Ash in the film would overshadow him.
But Saif has never rejected or selected the films because of length of the role and a recent example of this was Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘ Omkara.’ Though his role in the film was small in comparison to Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi, but it was Saif who got appreciation by all for his powerful performance in the film. His character of Langda had become a household name and his beard and hair a style statement for the hoi polloi.
The unavailability of dates also does not hold good because in August- September, Saif Ali will be shooting for Yash Raj’s ‘ Tashan’ along with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, but after that he is free. Only after rejecting the Karan Johar’s film, now Saif has given the October dates to Kunal Kohli for another flick. It may be recalled that earlier, Karan’s film was slated for an October shooting but has now been pushed backward to January 2008.

| Recently, Saif Ali Khan has been consistently linked with sizzling hot bong Bipasha Basu and the two have often been spotted together at various hot spots, including her gym. Bips, too, has almost broken off with John Abraham and is currently single and ready to mingle. Continuing with their ‘good friendship’, Saif and Bipasha have gone ahead and shot an extremely ‘hot’ lovemaking scene for the forthcoming film Race directed by Abbas Mustan. In fact sources say that the scene was so intensely shot that everyone was asked to leave the sets except for director and the cinematographer.
May be at such a juncture, Saif Ali Khan do not want to show Bengali bombshell Bips his gay side even in films… what say?? |
