The director ensured that no one was left out as he personally welcomed each guest starting with Rishi and Neetu Kapoor.

The evening hosted by Mandira Bedi started with a Q&A with the men behind the music starting with music composer Monty Sharma, who is making his debut with the film as well as lyricist Sameer for whom Saawariya marks his 500th film as a lyricist.

As Sanjay got to the stage everyone was restless to see the young debutants who had been kept away from the cameras for the entire evening. If the director had his way we probably wouldn't have seen them at all! The way Sanjay spoke about Ranbir and Sonam it almost felt like a proud father speaking about his two children. "From not wanting to let the music go out of my hands which it has today… I don't want to even let these two go. Working with them I have laughed so much that I feel I have become younger," said Bhansali.

As Bhansali left the stage it was time to welcome the two most awaited debutants in the industry who purely on the basis of their lineage are born superstars and now have the huge responsibility of living up to the tag! Out walked Sonam with Salman Khan and Ranbir with Rani Mukherji. Both the young debutants Sonam and Ranbir were in tears as they thanked their family and director – who were also weeping - for their support. But with Salman on stage there was no way that the guests would be allowed to be melancholy even for a moment longer. Khan took over and spoke about how nervous he was about Ranbir's entry. Poking fun at his contemporaries – Aamir and SRK – he said looking at the two of them who have grown up before him make their debut with him he couldn't help but feel nervous for himself. He added with Ranbir not only taking off his shirt but also dropping his towel a la Rishi Kapoor in Bobby and with him giving his six-pack to SRK for the moment he definitely felt he was getting old now.

The evening than belonged to our very own Sallu who took potshots at the King Khan.

"SRK and Aamir are good actors but Salman is the favorite of Sanjay (Bhansali) and whoever is directing Salman is a good director because he knows the film will be a hit," he said nonchalantly and went on to add, "I have given my six pack to SRK for his film so that he can also show off his body."

This is not the first time that Salman has passed such interesting comments about SRK. At the Rajiv Gandhi Awards - where he won the Best Actor trophy - not long back, the Partner star remarked, "Finally I won an award otherwise it's always the man in long hair nowadays SRK who takes it away."

Salman had only won the Best Supporting Actor for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) till the Rajiv Gandhi Award came his way.

It was Salman Khan’s wit and humour that changed the mood here are Sallu’s top five statements of the evening that had all of us in splits!

On discussing a scene where Ranbir drops not only his shirt but also his towel a la dad Rishi Kapoor in Bobby, Ranbir was asked if he felt nervous doing that in a movie that included Salman. But before Ranbir could reply Salman said it was ok since “I have given my six pack to Shah Rukh!”

• Referring to his inclusion in the film Salman said “Ek intelligent director usse kehte hain jo shaam ko apne winning combination Salman aur Rani ke paas wapas laut tha hain!” (An intelligent director is that who returns to his winning combination of Salman and Rani at the end of the day.)

• As if the earlier catty remark wasn’t enough he added, “Aamir and SRK refused this role that’s how it came to me.”

• When Mandira, the compere for the evening, asked Rani about her and Salman’s surprise presence in the film Salman piped in ‘Acha you mean like Om Shanti Om!’

• Looking at Anil Kapoor getting emotional over Sonam’s debut, Salman remarked ‘Don’t worry Anil… in the next No Entry I will play your father!’
