Deepika Padukone, who looked stunningly beautiful in her debut film ‘ Om Shanti Om’, also made a sarcastic remark about Sonam that she was in the bollywood not on the base of her talent, but due to her family connections. Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have never taken her as the leading lady of his film ‘ Saawariya’, if she were not Anil Kapoor’s daughter. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone was selected by Shah Rukh Khan on her own merit and oomph factor and not on some family connection.
The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that the main cause for tussle between the two budding stars is handsome hunk Ranbir Kapoor. The name of Ranbir Kapoor has been linked with both the beauties in the past and now the tussle has come in open.
However, Sonam Kapoor has been handling the whole issue with a rare touch of maturity for her age and saying that Deepika’s comment did not rattle her. She went on to profess her liking for the gorgeous Deepika, though she might not like her. Sonam says that she did not know Deepika enough or had chances of interacting with her.
It may be recalled that Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor had made their debuts at the box office with two biggies like ‘ Om Shanti Om’ and ‘ Saawariya’ on the Diwali day. But Box office gave different verdicts on their films. While Deepika’s film, which had Shah Rukh Khan in the main lead, went on to become a hit at the box office, Sonam Kapoor’s ‘ Saawariya’ had bombed at the box office after the initial hype died down.
After the success of Deepika’s debut film, she has been flooded with offers from big banners and has already signed a film with Yash Raj. Though Sonam had acted her part well in Sanjay Bhansali’s film, but the film lacked soul, and hence was rejected by the masses at the box office.
