Even as their professional relationship grows, the emotional bonds between Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan appear to be strengthening. Kareena has started to bond with Saif's two children from his earlier thirteen years marriage with Amrita Singh.

It may still be some time before Kareena gets to do Mommy duties but that sure is the road down which she is headed. For the time being Kareena is just getting to know Saif's daughter Sara and son Ibrahim, both of whom live with their mother.
Saif and Kareena have not been on a public outing with the children but they recently took them to the Andheri Sports Complex for a show. They spent their time in their van and let the children frolic outside on their own.

On the professional front, the two are already working together on two films under the Yash Raj banner, Tashan and Road Side Romeo. The latter is an animation film. While Yash Raj Films' Tashan is still in the making, it seems to be making a buzz for quite a few other reasons recently it’s been heard, the two were so much into each other that Kareena literally locked herself in Khan's make-up van on the set of Tashan for some serious 'script sessions'.

The success of Jab We Met has given a fillip to Kareena's career in Bollywood. From being the highest paid female star in Bollywood Kareena's career had slid to an extent where at the beginning of this year she had no projects other than Jab We Met. Now the tide has turned and she has no dates, probably till the end of next year.

Amongst the films that she has signed up for recently are Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakth Ishq opposite Akshay Kumar, to be directed by debutant Sabir Khan and Phir Golmaal opposite Ajay Devgan. The latest film to come her way is the next film from the RK Banner.

Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv are reviving the banner, which last produced Aa Ab Laut Chalen starring Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai in 1999, with a youthful breezy romantic comedy early next year that will feature Kareena Kapoor in a lead role.

"I'm making a film with Kareena. It's going to be a youthful romantic film, and it should start in a few months from now," says Randhir Kapoor.

While on the professional front she is on a high on personal front also she is bonding well with Saif’s family.

Soha Ali sister of Saif said of her brother, "He's always very open about his life and I feel very uncomfortable talking about his someone else. But because he's a person who wears his heart on his sleeve and we all know who he's seeing these days (Kareena Kapoor) I just want to say I've never seen him so happy and he is genuinely very happy, his career 'Masha Allah' [ode to Allah] is going well right now and it all seems to be coming together for him."

On whether Soha gets on well with her prospective sister in law, Soha said, "I've met her on a couple of occasions, I still know her better as an actor and I saw JAB WE MET recently and I thought it was a phenomenal performance for her and whatever I've seen she's been lovely but it's only been a couple of dinners."

But Soha advised caution on buying a new saree just yet as Kareena hasn't met the parents so far...

"No, not yet and I don't think she's met my parents as yet as far I know. She's met me and my sister we've all gone out for a couple of dinners it's been very nice."

With so much happing in her life we tried to catch up with the lady herself the year has been eventful for her and not just professionally. But Kareena prefers to keep her personal life aside and gets chatting about her films. “All my films have been special, but Jab We Met (JWM), is the best film of my career. Any actress would give her all to work in such a film and that too with one of the finest directors like Imtiaz Ali. He guides you like a child and that makes his actors feel really nice,” says Kareena.

She gushes that even 70-year-old aunties have come up to her after the film and told her that they ‘simply loved it’. “I played a wild and fun-loving girl while Shahid played a subdued and patient guy. It’s the chemistry between two people who’re so completely different that worked for the film. Of course, the music, direction and the fresh storyline were equally brilliant,” she says.

Geet, the character she played in JWM, says Kareena, is very similar to her. “Even I’m very fun-loving and go out and do just what I want. I’m not calculative; I follow my heart because it rules over my mind,” confesses the actress.

So now that she’s done two extremely different genres of films the critically acclaimed Omkara and a masala flick like JWM what kind of films does she like doing? “Generally in Hindi films, the heroine is always crying or dancing around trees, but I’ve always chosen real characters. But it was my role in Yuva that worked for me. So I always do films that have a good story and a strong character. It’s okay even if I sit jobless for a year, but I’ll only do films I believe in. Otherwise, it’s so easy to be a part of big projects starring big heroes and do a small role. But that’s not what I want to do,” says the actress.

And now that her father Randhir is reviving the Raj Kapoor banner, has she zeroed in on what she wants to play in the film? “Scripts are flowing in and I’m reading so many. But I want to something new — it has to add freshness to my character. Dad’s actually beginning to get irritated because I keep saying, ‘I don’t want this and I don’t want that.’ He’s producing it, so I’ll home in on the right script soon,” she says.

Also on the call sheet are dates for Sajid Nadiadwala’s upcoming flick and Golmaal Returns — a comedy, a genre she hasn’t tried before.

But in spite of all the trappings of celebrity life, it’s family that keeps her grounded, says Kareena. “I’m a very family-oriented girl and can never go away from them. My family means a lot to me. And yes, they always listen to whatever I say,” she smiles.
