Apparently, the ‘Don’ actress refused a film with Chi-Chi when he wasn’t doing well on the professional front, way before Govinda made his smashing comeback with ‘Partner’. “I’m absolutely thrown by this accusation. Only film I was offered with Chi Chi, I didn’t do because I didn’t like my character in the film.

Priyanka will have around a dozen releases this year including ‘Love Story 2050’, Harman Baweja’s launch pad, ‘Drona’ with Abhishek Bachchan, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’, Chamku’ with Bobby Deol, Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’ and Karan Johar’s untitled production.

Of Karan’s film she says, “It’s a romantic comedy a fun filled, young film based in Miami. It has Abhishek, me and John Abraham,” She continues.

This is the same film that Aishwarya opted out from due to the glamour’s role, which she did not want to do after her marriage. When someone of the stature of Aishwarya is the one you’re replacing in a film, isn’t there added pressure that you have to do better than your best to justify the replacement? “Well, I’ve always maintained that Ash is an incredibly beautiful woman, she’s someone who everyone likes watching on screen. And yeah, they are huge shoes to fill. She’s won the Best Actress Award. I’ve never won it” Priyanka drawls, “Don’t compare me to Aishwarya she’s been around for so long.”

Rumours are that Priyanka wasn’t too happy about the Aishwarya doing a special appearance song in ‘Drona’ the discomfort stemming from obvious insecurities. “What Rubbish,” Priyanka says vehemently, “Please, I think it would be an obvious asset to our film if Ash does a song in it. Ek toh she’s a fabulous dancer, and considering her success rate with special appearance numbers like ‘Kajra re’, I would love for her to do a song in my film and as far as I know, Ash is doing a song in ‘Drona’.”

Harman’s debut has been catapulted back and forth with the delay of his launch film, ‘Love Story..’ Post the announcement of his debut, there have been debutants like Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh who have already passed the acid test and come out shining. “I’ve worked with Harman in his first film and I think he’s extremely competent.”

Priyanka speaks in praise of her beau, “But the audience will eventually decide the fate of his film and his success. I loved Ranbir in his debut film. You can’t tell that it is his first. Neil, I haven’t seen his debut film. But I also think he’s an extremely good-looking and well-presented boy and that’s half the battle won. I’m actually glad that these new guys are coming in ’coz the industry really needed that.

Madhur, with whom she is working for the first time on ‘Fashion’, is known to expose the not-so-pretty side to any industry one won’t expect any less from ‘Fashion’, is she ready to play the pot smoking, narcissistic, dysfunctional model? “When I met Madhur for the very first story narration, I had made it clear that I wouldn’t do anything just for effect that would end up hurting sentiments across the industry. And ‘Fashion’ is not like that. I said I’d do something that’s real. We are not going to only play up the unflattering side to the fashion industry. We’d show the pros and the cons. We’d probably show the ugly side of the beautiful people, but the beautiful side too,” she states clearly.

Speaking of insecurities that are a part and parcel of the glamour profession, what is she insecure about? “I think it would be unfair to say that only people in the glamour industry are shrouded by insecurities. I think every profession comes with its own insecurities, its own fears,” she says, a little annoyed.

From serious stuff we changed the topic to something lighter. Her long standing relationship with Harman Baweja that she won’t admit to in print, even if she were in a drugged state, to which she smiles brightly, but everyday details of which provide for ample media fodder. One would have to touch all the wood around since it’s been three years and the couple’s still going strong.

But are they going so strong that Priyanka decided to seal the deal, proposing to Harman for marriage as industry insiders suggest? I inquire. “What crap,” Priyanka spurts, “You gotta be kidding me. Poor thing, Harman’s so stressed and he’s working right now. And so am I.” Yeah, I’m sure they are, but who said getting engaged is time-consuming?

It takes two seconds to slide a ring on your lover’s fingers I rib her. “It’s too early for me to even contemplate a relationship of that seriousness and secondly, marriage. Please it scares the living daylights out of me. Dating is fine, but dating to be married? “Certainly not,” Concludes Priyanka.
