A source close to the actor says, “After Salmanbhai scripted Veer, he has taken a liking for writing and blogs being the flavour of the day, it seems to be an obvious choice for him”. The first two blogs are about how he got on board to do the game show. Sources at Sony promise that the actor-turned-host will blog every day and will also talk about other stuff besides the show.

Salman Khan, who is to anchor Sony's new reality game show Dus Ka Dum, writes in his first entry that he takes all his decisions on instincts rather than calculations.

"All my decisions are based on my instincts and some people think that I am too moody and cynical," Salman writes in his blog. "Believe me, I have been guided by my instincts and my heart all my life! I do not depend too much on intelligence, analysis and calculations," he says.

Salman, who has often been in the news for wrong reasons, says that earlier he had his own reservations about anchoring a show. "I still remember the day when my brother Sohail Khan brought the proposal to anchor a show for Sony Entertainment Television. I had my reservations. The idea sounded so impractical that I rejected it even without giving it much thought," he wrote.

But then what attracted him to Dus Ka Dum?
"There is no false shame and sense of humiliation on the show if your answer is wrong. Sample survey has determined the exact answers in the form of percentage and the one who answers nearest to the exact answer is the winner. This game is simple. It is a game of guessing," Salman quips.

Salman who is busy shooting in Australia for Mr & Mrs Khanna writes in his latest post that doing his upcoming television show Dus Ka Dum is his way of saying “Thank You” to his fans.

“There are loads of reasons that helped me take a positive step. Soon, 10 Ka Dum ceased to be a format or a chat show. It became my thanksgiving to millions of my fans who have showered their love and blessings to a rather reluctant star. For last nineteen years they have been watching my films… again and again… spending their hard earned money on my films and I know that the time has come to thank them and return some of their money in the form of prizes. Therefore for me, this is not merely a show, but my SHUKRANA…
Thank you friends.”

Salman’s show Dus Ka Dum is all about people and their choices. The game show challenges contestants to guess the answers to various questions, which are based on popular choice. The genre of questions varies from political to plain funny.

In his previous posts Salman has implied that he chose to do Dus Ka Dum because it gave him a platform on which he can closely interact with the common man. His blog states, “The greatest temptation to the show was direct interaction with common people.”

A source from Sony Televison revealed, "The show has turned out to be quite interesting and so has the promotional song which is already on air. Salman's popularity is quite visible on the sets as the crowd; especially girls go mad over him after his entry on the sets. Hoardings for Salman's show 10 Ka Dum are already up everywhere. The show is expected to start in June."

He also said, "The show which will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television has already got great buyers overseas. The moment Salman came to know of the money that the channel is raking in he decided to hike his price for the show. Salman is now demanding a hike of Rs 44 crore for the show."

Salman was unavailable for comments since he is abroad shooting for his home production he is expected to resume filming for the show again next month.

BLOG ka dum
Excerpts from Sallu’s blog:

Day 1:
I still remember the day when my brother Sohail Khan, who always dreams big, thinks different, brought the proposal to anchor a show for Sony Entertainment Television. I had my reservations. The idea sounded so impractical that I rejected it even without giving it much thought. All my decisions are based on my instinct and some people think that I am too moody and cynical. But believe me I have been guided by my instincts, and my heart, all my life! I do not depend too much on intelligence, analysis and calculations…

However, Sohail, the eternal optimist, and family friend Ajay Chhabaria (both have tremendous patience and endless power of persuasion) kept asking me to look into the format closely. Their patience and perseverance paid dividends…
So here I am convinced & ready to go…
The format attracted me…and how! Stay connected.
Will be back tomorrow.

Day 2:
The second thing that attracted me to the format was the informality of the show — it goes to such an extent that the role of anchor and contestants are reversed at times and also interchangeable. I hate formality and behavioral rituals. I like to be direct.
Beating around the bush is not my cup of tea. The inherent elements of humour and informality in the format made me think very positively about 10 Ka Dum.
The very essence in 10 Ka Dum is very positive…
The greatest temptation to do the show was…see u tomorrow.
