“My wife Suzanne needed me more than my professional commitments since my son Hridaan was due,” said Hrithik. “I had some tucked away time for my family. I had not been in the city (Mumbai) physically as well.” He has enjoyed the past months being a new dad, adding that life is “fantastic”. Hridaan is the couple's second child.
“Being a father is absolutely wonderful. I can’t imagine my family without sons.” He said he named his second son, a name that means ‘one who gives from the heart’. The reserved star said he was not the type to seek publicity. “I talk when I have stuff to talk about not just for the sake of it. But for the sake of talking I just don’t feel the need”.
His comments come at a time when other Bollywood stars are slanging it out in public, using their blogs and interviews to needle each other but the star refuse to comment on it. Hrithik also spoke frankly about rumours that he had decided to stop doing intimate scenes in movies because his dad Rakesh Roshan did not like them. His rumoured kiss with Barbora Mori in Kites, which the film's producer and Hrithik's father, Roshan Sr, is reportedly opposed to.
“That’s rubbish, I wonder where such news come from. If it’s the need of the script then I don’t have any reasons to be hesitant.” He is believed to be doing a kissing scene with co-star Barbara Mori in Kites. He would not reveal anything more about the film. Used to the inanities of the press, Hrithik said, "Well Kites is a long way from launching in terms of shoot…so too early to talk about anything right now. It is a year from now so maybe at that time I will have more words."
Kites, is an international love story where Hrithik and his leading lady, Mori, find themselves in trouble and despite not being able to communicate to one another they fall in love with each other. The film will be shot entirely in the US, on location in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New Mexico. The romantic thriller, directed by Anurag Basu, will begin production in July, which also features Kangana Ranaut.
Hrithik plays a character that is living in Vegas, but is not very wealthy. He has asked designer Suneet Varma to give him a cool look, rather than a flashy look. Varma is also styling the look for Mori and Kangana.
When Hrithik was in the capital recently to endorse a cola brand, journalists got a chance to grill him about the ongoing spat between Ambumani Ramados and the film industry over the Health Minister’s calls to ban smoking and drinking in movies and of course junk food and colas, Hrithik said: “the approach is irrational. One cannot put a full stop over things, moderate intake is never damaging. Addiction to something good is also bad.”
When asked why he turned down Aditya Chopra’s offer for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. It seems the actor had date problems as his home production, Kites, and Adi’s film had overlapping schedules.
“Aditya came to me with the story and obviously I was more than happy to hear it all out. But Adi wanted to release the film at the end of this year, which meant that filming had to be done early this year. I just doesn’t have that many dates,” says the actor. Hrithik’s Kites begins filming in the US from July onwards.
