Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan War take ugly turn !!!

No one could anticipate that a star-studded birthday party of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif would turn into a battle of the two Indian super stars - Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan - dividing the industry into two camps. While Katrina Kaif’s birthday party at Olive was one to be noted for its stunning guest list, it is now in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Salman was reportedly instigating Shah Rukh from the beginning of the party by speaking about their reality shows - Dus Ka Dum and Kya aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?" respectively. Salman claimed that his show Dus Ka Dum had garnered more TRPs than Shah Rukh's, said sources.Salman scoffed at Shah Rukh by saying that in spite of being a super star he could not make his show a hit.

Shah Rukh initially did not pay any heed to Salman's comments. The final blow came when Shah Rukh made a comment on Salman's ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, inviting a furious retaliation from Salman. Sources say that Shah Rukh, never known for his diplomatic skills, started ribbing Salman, and his off-colour joke about Ash and Salman got Sallu’s hackles up.

The two most powerful Khans in the industry allgededly had a nasty spat in full view of friends and invitees. Salman Khan, who hosted a bash for girlfriend Katrina and Shah Rukh Khan, who attended the party with wife Gauri and friend Karan Johar were seen and heard exchanging abuses and barbed comments, the two were allegedly 'high' after a few drinks and true to their 'undiplomatic' nature could not resist letting out some steam over a lot of seething issues. While sources says the spat was over some unsavoury jokes SRK cracked about Salman's famous ex Aishwarya Rai, another source says it is was about the poor ratings of SRK's TV quiz show which Salman picked on to needle SRK. Salman was upset when SRK refused to be part of his home production, even though he made it a point to be a part of SRK's game show with Katrina and earlier made a guest appearance in OSO. Salman allegedly called SRK a "matlabi insaan" who 'picks up the phone only when he needed people'. SRK allegedly threatened to bash up Salman at his own party. The two were soon about to come to blows when friends and bystanders intervened. One of them allegedly was Aamir Khan who played the peacemaker.

As the guests present on the occasion were stunned by the turn of events, Shah Rukh and Salman kept staring at each other and it seemed imminent that they were going to come to blows. But Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri intervened at that point and took Shah Rukh away by saying that she wanted to leave the party immediately. Shah Rukh agreed and the duo left the birthday bash immediately. Fortunately, Salman kept staring but did not try to stop them.

So, just what does this mean to Bollywood, which works so incestuously? It is an open secret that the two major camps in Bollywood so far have revolved around Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. The two have almost always dictated the rules in the industry. Will the coming of a new camp actually disturb the existing set-up lets find out.Insiders who have been following trends insist that this is perhaps just the beginning of a bigger and a nastier war.It is also generally believed that Salman Khan has managed to become an unwitting catalyst in the Bachchan-SRK war. So much so, observers insist that this one action may just affect the dynamics of the entire industry.

Insiders also suggest that the Big-B SRK war is far from over. This is just the beginning and it will get far more aggressive. Here's how the war may affect the biggies:

Salman Khan
After all that has happened, there is little chance that Salman would ever work with Shah Rukh Khan again or vice versa. Even if they reconcile in public. However Salman Khan of all people knows that he does not have the muscle that Shah Rukh has. Moreover he has never been an astute businessman like Shah Rukh either.A look at the list that was published in the tabloid recently will tell you that Salman Khan has no director in his 'camp'. Moreover, the only producer he has is Sajid Nadiadwala. Moreover, Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan who have 'promised their support' are not exactly the most promising names in the business.But here's a clincher. If observers are to be believed, Kunal Kohli may just deflect and associate himself with Salman Khan.

Reports of creative differences between Kunal Kohli and Aditya Chopra over Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic have been doing the rounds for the longest time. So Kunal Kohli, who has been hoping to start out his own production house, had spoken to Saif Ali Khan about a new film that he planned to produce and direct. However, after the debacle of Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Saif Ali Khan has been avoiding Kunal like the plague. This has not gone down well with the director who is very keen on moving away from Yash Raj.

The Nawab has made his allegiances very clear after hosting the Filmfare Awards with Shah Rukh Khan. But this was not always the case. Saif Ali Khan did try to explore pastures across the fence.He hoped to associate himself with the Bachchans and agreed to work on Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya. The result, of course, was for everyone to see. This was the last time he was seen in 'that camp' and has ever since found himself standing by Shah Rukh Khan. Moreover, Saif Ali Khan has never really wanted to move away from a banner as reputed as Yash Raj.

Unarguably the biggest production house in India, Yash Raj films has huge money at stake. It is believed that they are choosing to disassociate themselves from the Bachchans. None of their future films have any of the Bachchans in the cast.But there's more. Another insider suggests, "The real reason for this is because Yash Raj is planning a huge tie-up with Mukesh Ambani's Reliance. They will build a huge chain of multiplexes across the country. This will mean Yash Raj will control all three aspects of the business – production, distribution and exhibition – something that hasn't happened at such a huge scale."

Taking on big brother Mukesh Ambani is Anil Ambani's Big Entertainment. The company has already made news for signing on Steven Spielberg. But more is yet to come. Says a source, "Anil Ambani who is close to the Bachchan family. So don't be surprised if you find only Bachchans' friends being signed up."

Now, he's a friend that the Bachchans may be most happy to welcome. Akshay Kumar has had a great 2007 and it looks like he already has two winners on his hands – Singh Is Kinng, which releases this August and Chandni Chowk to China, which will release this Diwali.He made the most of the Unforgettable Tour and joined the Bachchans in the Canada leg of the tour. Says a source, "Akshay Kumar is just as shrewd a businessman as Shah Rukh Khan. His appearance in the Punjabi-dominated Canada will obviously affect Singh is Kinng's collections there. But by participating in The Unforgettable tour, Akshay Kumar has sent out a message to Shah Rukh Khan too."

The King Khan is apparently a very angry man these days. Shah Rukh's Rab Ne... was supposed to release along with Rajini's on the Diwali day. But Rajinikanth managed to wrap the film so fast that it will now hit the screens on August 1. The dubbed Hindi version of the film will also hit the screens on the same day. This has allegedly irked Shah Rukh Khan no end. Now Shah Rukh has never lost a Diwali battle at the box office. But trade circles are buzzing with the news that Kuselan may just prove to be the exception. What is worse is that if this happens Shah Rukh Khan will lose out to Akshay Kumar, whose Chandni Chowk… opens on the very same week.

Amitabh Bachchan
Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer God Tussi Great Ho may not look like a great film right now. But industry observers believe that it will be used as a platform to bring Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together. Says one, "The film may or may not do well at the box office. But it will consolidate 'Amitabh's Army' by officially getting Salman on board."Now before you shake your head in disbelief (Salman and the Bachchans? NEVER!), picture this:

With Big Entertainment (Anil Ambani's company with which Bachchan's AB Corp will co-produce movies) all set to take over Bollywood in a big way, chances are cold business logic may just bring together Salman and Bachchan in the unlikeliest way. Or so predict industry watchers.Sohail Kan's production house may just get the boost and Arbaaz the roles much required.So you may have the famous residents of Galaxy apartments benefiting from the illustrious ones at Jalsa, inadvertently, or maybe by design.

With the battle lines now drawn and two sides almost set to take on each other, it's only a matter of time before the fireworks begin. Wanna bet?
