Talking about her friction with various actresses, Bipasha says, "We should realise that women are transparent creatures and we can't be friends with anybody. Kareena and I had a problem so many years back that now I don't even remember what it was. I don't know Kareena as a person but today I can say openly I don't have any problems with her. People then created awkwardness and with constant repetition the problem got aggravated but I hold no grudges. She's a wonderful actress."

But there is a problem with Katrina Kaif with whom she acted in Race? The buzz was that they didn't talk to each other at all during the film's shooting. Bipasha admits, "Yes there is a problem between Katrina and me.

But there could be reasons for that. It could be because of our boyfriends (John Abraham and Salman Khan) but that never affected our work. We didn't speak during Race but that never stopped shooting.

If she met Kareena or Katrina at a social event would she be cordial and greet them warmly? "I could walk up to Kareena and do that; but no, I can't do that with Katrina. There is awkwardness between Katrina and me. We don't talk to each other."

Bipasha wants to forget the animosities of her past. "Enough negativity was generated between Kareena and me which created an awkwardness. I don't want people to think that of Deepika and me. She and I didn't interact much during the shooting of Bachna Ae Haseeno. I got to know her during the music video and promotions. She is very expressive, talented has got a very raw, on screen persona and is a great girl."

Expert from the Interview:

With overwhelming reactions for your recent performance, do you see yourself in a position of power?
It’s great to be accepted in a new manner. People have loved my inputs in terms of styling and performance. I’m comfortable in whatever position I’m in today. I use my position to get heard when I’m raising some concerns regarding my films. But, I’m not a diva. A diva is a person who is in a position of power and is difficult. I’m not a difficult person.

In real life, are you as prone to tantrums as your screen avatar?
My screen character was so hurt that she became cold and tough. Her anger wasn’t directed at the right area. I’m too happy a person to throw tantrums. But being a thorough professional, I’m very firm and don’t tolerate slackness at work.

If people don’t live up to your standards, do you show them the door?
I’m a Capricorn and hence, am a very organized person. I’m patient and voice my disapproval a couple of times. If it still doesn’t work, I change the staff. Thankfully, I’ve been gifted with a professional team.

What’s the most startling model/star tantrum that you’ve heard of?
Models don’t throw tantrums. Those in positions of power can do so. Many aren’t punctual and even if they are, some end up resting in their vanity vans or doing workouts during shooting time. Nobody protests for the fear of being harmed.

Considering that you’ve just played a small-town girl, what’s so special about such achievers?
Personally, I was never a small town girl. You can’t generalize people on the basis of their roots. Yet, when small-town girls come to Mumbai, the first few days are bound to give them all kinds of shocks. The city is so fast and vast. Instead of setting annual goals, Mumbaikars set goals per day. But, there is also a lot of acceptance without any bias for migrants. If you have the luck and talent, you could be a winner.

The buzz is that you’ve mastered the art of standing out in a multi-starrer.
My intention is never to pale out my co-actors. I don’t compete with them. I want all of them to do well so that the film does well. My co-stars were confident and came with a lot of grooming. In contrast, I had no knowledge of the film industry when I had joined. So, there was never any imbalance between my experience and that of my co-stars when I did this film.

Has John seen your latest film?
No! He is shooting in Philadelphia now. He said he feels proud of me, what with people continuously messaging him to appreciate my work. They might get a print of the film for him to watch.

Having done both serious and commercial films, what’s contributed more towards your growth as an actor?
Acting in a commercial film is way more difficult than doing a realistic film. As opposed to playing real characters, commercial films need me to play fictitious characters with whom I don’t have any associations. I’ve learnt on the job. I am not a method actor and deliver in one or two takes. The credit for my success as an actor goes to each of my directors for their guidance and me for having played the roles with conviction.
