Expert from the Interview:
With overwhelming reactions for your recent performance, do you see yourself in a position of power?
It’s great to be accepted in a new manner. People have loved my inputs in terms of styling and performance. I’m comfortable in whatever position I’m in today. I use my position to get heard when I’m raising some concerns regarding my films. But, I’m not a diva. A diva is a person who is in a position of power and is difficult. I’m not a difficult person.
In real life, are you as prone to tantrums as your screen avatar?
My screen character was so hurt that she became cold and tough. Her anger wasn’t directed at the right area. I’m too happy a person to throw tantrums. But being a thorough professional, I’m very firm and don’t tolerate slackness at work.
If people don’t live up to your standards, do you show them the door?
I’m a Capricorn and hence, am a very organized person. I’m patient and voice my disapproval a couple of times. If it still doesn’t work, I change the staff. Thankfully, I’ve been gifted with a professional team.
What’s the most startling model/star tantrum that you’ve heard of?
Models don’t throw tantrums. Those in positions of power can do so. Many aren’t punctual and even if they are, some end up resting in their vanity vans or doing workouts during shooting time. Nobody protests for the fear of being harmed.
Considering that you’ve just played a small-town girl, what’s so special about such achievers?
Personally, I was never a small town girl. You can’t generalize people on the basis of their roots. Yet, when small-town girls come to Mumbai, the first few days are bound to give them all kinds of shocks. The city is so fast and vast. Instead of setting annual goals, Mumbaikars set goals per day. But, there is also a lot of acceptance without any bias for migrants. If you have the luck and talent, you could be a winner.
The buzz is that you’ve mastered the art of standing out in a multi-starrer.
My intention is never to pale out my co-actors. I don’t compete with them. I want all of them to do well so that the film does well. My co-stars were confident and came with a lot of grooming. In contrast, I had no knowledge of the film industry when I had joined. So, there was never any imbalance between my experience and that of my co-stars when I did this film.
