2009 is going to be a very busy year for Bachchan Bahu, she not only has Mani Ratnam's gruelling Ravan with husband Abhishek Bachchan to complete, she also begins work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next movie, with Hrithik Roshan, to be shot in Goa. But before that she goes into filmmaker Vipul Shah's next film with Akshay Kumar in the lead. Both Vipul and Akshay, who are co-producing the film, were very keen to get Aishwarya for what they describe as a genre-breaking drama.
Aishwarya has also signed up Excel Entertainment's untitled thriller to be directed by Abhinay Deo, who is currently busy shooting his directorial debut Delhi Belly. For the film, Aishwarya will once again team up with hubby Abhishek. Confirming the news, Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment said: "It would be a very stylish thriller to be shot entirely in Greece, Thailand, Istanbul and London. "My director Abhinay Deo and I want a particular look for the film. We're trying to get the DOP (director of photography) of the new Nike international commercial. If not, there's Jason West who shot our 'Rock On!’ He can capture that subtle sleek look which the subject demands. We want the film's visual quality to be something never experienced by our audience." The film would be Aishwarya's second with Abhishek after Ravan.
Ash is excited about teaming up with hubby for but is reluctant to reveal much about Ravana "It’s a really exciting thought for me and Abhishek to be coming together again with Mani Ratnam. All I can say about the film is that it goes into a completely different theme from Guru. You can’t expect Mani sir to go into the same space twice. Working with him is an exciting thought for any actor. The way he connects to his actors is very clear in the films he makes. He creates magic on screen," confessed Ash.
Aishwarya considers Guru a very precious experience. "It has been a very precious experience on every level, and not just on a personal level. I’d say it was professionally very fulfilling." She added.
Insiders believe that ‘Raavana’ is likely to undergo some subtle changes in the script, as Mani has been upset with some revelations. Sources reveals that Mani is planning to remove all the parallel comparisons of Ramayana from the film, as he does not want any controversy regarding his film and its characters. The mythological names of the characters in the film might be changed to more contemporary names.
For instance, earlier Abhishek Bachchan’s character was tipped to be known as Raavana, Aishwarya’s character as Sita and Vikram’s character as Rama. But now all this will be changed to contemporary names, keeping in mind their characters.
It may be recalled that the film is an intense triangular drama involving the characters of Abhsihek playing a fugitive who kidnaps Aishwarya, Aishwarya playing a pristine wife of the righteous cop (played by Vikram).
Presently, Mani Rathnam is shooting for ‘Raavan’ with Abhishek, Aishwarya and others at Orcha near Jhansi. The place is devoted to Lord Rama and has a large number of temples in his name. Earlier Mani shoot the film in the jungles of Kerala, shooting in the thick forests was proving to be pretty dangerous. A leech bit Aishwarya on the first day of shoot there. "The jungle is full of leeches, snakes and other wild animals that director Mani Ratnam had to hire local snake catchers to deal with such problems," we are told. But Ash isn’t complaining as she known to be through professional, once she signs on dotted line she is completely dedicated to the project, one of Ash many qualities that wins for her big projects in bollywood.
Recently Bachchan Bahu does us all proud when she took a firm stand and refused to be the Indian face of a skin-lightening cream especially in a country, which is unjustly obsessed with fair skin.
After Aishwraya turned down the offer, the cosmetic company signed Sonam Kapoor to endorse the fairness cream. Sources reveals that the key factor behind Sonam Kapoor being the new face has got nothing to do with her age.
