Another buzz, which turned the scale in Katrina Kaif’s favour, was the presence of Akshay Kumar in the film playing one of leads with Sanjay Dutt. Katrina has given six supers hit films with Akshay Kumar and the producers could not ignore this fact, while deciding about their upcoming ‘Blue.’
Sources say that Katrina Kaif’s extended sequences will be only with Akshay Kumar to give an impression to the audience that they have been paired together in the film. Earlier, Katrina did not have any role with Akshay, and instead was to perform on an item number in the film.
However, the producers Ashtavinayak Films are keeping all this Akshay-Katrina pairing a secret, as they do not want Lara Dutta to know about it. Though, Lara Dutta has been paired opposite Sanjay Dutt in the film, but she would not have liked the idea of sharing the limelight with another heroine, who was not originally the part of the film.
Sources say that Akshay-Katrina pairing has been hit with the audiences much like Dharmendra and Hema Malini in the earlier times. At that time, Dharmendra exuded an earthy, rugged touch, while Hema was much of a sophisticated, delicate dream girl and the masses adored their jodi on the celluloid.
Katrina admits that Akshay has a great role to play in her successful Bollywood stint “I have learnt dedication towards work from Akshay Kumar', says Katrina, ''If you have good talent but take it for granted, then it fails for you. However, if you have less talent but work hard towards it then you get what you want. Someone like Akshay has a good combination of both talent which he hones further by working hard on it.”
Whenever, Akshay Kumar tried to dump Katrina for some new heroine like Deepika Padukone in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’, the movie proved to be a miserable flop at the box office. Perhaps this is the reason, the producers of ‘Blue’ do not want to take any risk and have extended the character of Katrina as a good luck factor in the film.
‘Blue’ is a big budget film directed by Anthony D’Souza with the help of top-notch Hollywood technicians. The film is an under water thriller involving crucial sequences by the lead actors Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt beneath sea water. Most of the shooting for the film has taken place out of country at exotic places.
The film also stars Australian singer Kylie Minogue, director Anthony D'Souza says contrary to popular belief that Kylie Minogue is only shaking a leg to her own song in her first Bollywood film, she has a full-fledged role in the underwater thriller. Apparently, the film's other two svelte leading ladies - Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif - have been peering anxiously over their dainty shoulders ever since they heard Kylie's isn't just a flash-on-flash-off song-and-dance routine.
"At a particular juncture in the story we needed a woman with a particular personality and appearance who could act, sing and dance. Kylie fitted the bill. She isn't here to do an item song and go back. Kylie plays a pivotal role," says D'Souza.
"She contributes considerably to taking the story forward. Over a period of eight days, I'm shooting all of Kylie's scenes," he added.
Kylie has also recorded a song for Blue, which is being produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. Recently she arrived in Mumbai to shoot for the music video for the film, which will also feature Akshay.
Commenting on that, D'Souza said: "Well I'm lucky to have three such lovely ladies in my film. I hope the audiences in the backwaters who may not know Kylie come to see my film for Lara and Katrina while the international audiences go wild over all the three ladies."
