Anushka Sharma is playing lead in this Yashraj’s latest flick and Shahid Kapur plays her love interest. It was during shooting romantic sequences that they are said to have come close to each other.
Anushka, who was a model before being introduced into bollywood by Aditya Chopra in his film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ opposite King Khan, is doing her second film with the premier production house. Till now, Anushka Sharma has not been involved with any other actor romantically, though her debut film was with a big star.
On the other hand, Shahid Kapur has been involved with several B-town hotties after his separation from long time beau and colleague Kareena Kapoor. Shahid and Kareena were with each other for almost four years, before the gorgeous lady decided to move on and went with Saif Ali Khan.
After Kareena Kapoor, though Shahid’s name had been linked up with many bollywood beauties like Vidya Balan, Amrita Rao and tennis star Sania Mirza, but it was Priyanka Chopra, who seemed to be really very close to the handsome hunk.
In fact, Shahid and Priyanka had come very close to each other during the shooting of Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film ‘Kaminey’. As they stay in the same building, they would often go to set of the film together. It further fuelled the talk about their romance.
But insiders say that the relationship was doomed to failure from the very beginning as Shahid and Priyanka were two completely different individuals. Whereas Priyanka loved to party and be bindaas on such occasions, Shahid did not like this and wanted a more conservative approach. They had arguments over such things a number of times and finally broke up.
When we quizzed Shahid about the break up this is what he had to say, “I am single and quite happy. When I am in a relationship and it is substantial enough for me to want to spend the rest of my life with her, people will come to know,” said the soft-spoken actor.
Priyanka recently said that Shahid is a good friend of hers. Hearing this, Shahid joked, “Now she has said that I am her good friend. Even if I want, things won’t move forward between us because she considers me only a friend!”
That doesn’t stop him from talking about Priyanka’s prowess as an actress. “When I started working with Priyanka, I thought she was a good actor. After we finished shooting the film, I thought she was a very, very good actor. She is on a creative high right now, doing better roles and movies than before.”
It looks like Shahid has found his soul mate in down to earth Anushka Sharma and is hoping to bring some stability in his emotionally tormented personal life but on the professional front his life is on the roll.
Though Shahid has not had any release this year so far. But in the next five months, the actor has some three films lined up for release. And if Boney Kapur's long in making Milenge Milenge releases as well, it will make it four releases in five months.
The promos of Kaminey and Dil Bole Hadippa have started being aired and the hype around both these films is building up perfectly. Shahid could not have asked for more. He is working for some of the best banners and directors and is essaying a wide variety of roles. Take Kaminey, for instance. Vishal Bharadwaj's film has Shajid playing a double role opposite Priyanka Chopra. A film straight out of the mean streets, it is absolutely different from Yash Raj Films' Dil Bole Hadippa, which sees him cast opposite Rani Mukherjee.
While Kaminey is due for release on August 14, Dil Bole Hadippa is set for a September 18 release. And if that is not enough, Shahid will be playing the regular hero, dancing and singing to his heart's content in Ken Ghosh's Yahoo, opposite Genelia D'Souza. This one is set for a year-end release. Once all of this is over, he is committed to working in his father, Pankaj Kapur's project. The actor could not have asked for a better space to be in professionally. After all how many actors get a chance to display such a range of characters as Shahid will be getting over his next three films. Shahid may have been around longer, but he is probably in the same age group as an Imran Khan or a Ranbir Kapoor. They may have hogged the limelight for the better part of the year, but the end of the year could well belong to Shahid.
