But now it has reached to a point when Ranbir feels suffocated by the presence of his beau Deepika at a party or social gathering. The situation between Ranbir and Deepika has gone worse and Ranbir is said to be very disturbed with Deepika’s constant vigil.

One theory doing the rounds in the industry is that Ranbir is young and his bollywood career has been moving by leaps and bounds. Under these conditions, Ranbir wants to give his hundred percent to work, which also involves having sizzling chemistry with his actresses in the flicks, and this obviously is disliked by Deepika.

All this leads to constant fights often they are not even on talking terms. A glaring example of all this was seen by all at Shabina Khan’s birthday bash recently, where even Katrina Kaif was present. The presence of Katrina further enraged Deepika, and had put her off. Even during Karan Johar’s fashion show they came separately, further fuelling the speculation that there was something seriously wrong between them. But at that time they were able to present a united front.

Sources from the industry say that while Ranbir has been offered movies from big banners like Yashraj Films; the same is not the case with Deepika. It seems that Ranbir wants to move ahead with new stars and new work commitments, but Deepika wants him to give her more time and commitment, and this is causing friction.

Another cause for the souring of relationship between Ranbir and Deepika is said to be his mother Neetu Singh. Sources say that Neetu Singh could never reconcile to the fact of Deepika’s earlier relationships with Nahar Pandya, Yuvraj Singh etc, and was always in favour of Sonam Kapoor, who looked more homely than Deepika. An insider says, "Everyone knows that Neetu never really approved of Deepika for her son even though Ranbir tried and succeeded, to a large extent, to make his mom thaw towards his girl.”

The OSO girl somewhere felt that her beau wasn't making a commitment to her, even though she was fully committed to the relationship because he was waiting for mommy's approval. Also Ranbir feels that he is too young to get engaged. Fact is, Imran Khan, who is the same age as the Kapoor boy, made it official with his girlfriend Avantika Malik.

Sometimes, things go wrong even though both people involved in the relationship have the best intentions. While Ranbir often drove out of town to meet his ladylove, while she was shooting in Karjat with Farhan for Karthik Calling Karthik, Deepika flew in twice from London to spend a few precious hours with her 'Sid.'

In recent times, though, the fights have outnumbered the special moments together. Everyone around them is wondering if this is the beginning of the end. But a friend of the actress says, "They are together. Fights happen in every relationship. This is the eighth time that everyone's convinced they are heading for a split. But it's all fine. They've patched up."

Ranbir denies that he and Deepika are nearing a break-up but in a recent interview Deepika had candidly admitted to feeling insecure about her relationship when rumours about her beau's fondness for Kat are doing the rounds.

Deepika also feels that Katrina is behind recent reports of her fight with Ranbir. Says a source close to Deepika "Katrina was present at Shabina Khan's party where it was very visible that Ranbir and Deepika had a tiff. It was such a small group, and they were all friends, so it has to be Kat who spread the news." To be fair to Katrina, she is known not to meddle in any other actress' affairs.

If she doesn't get along with an actress, she simply keeps her distance. Which is what happened during Race with Bipasha. There was also some stress with Kareena Kapoor, but now they are friends. In fact, Kat is one actress who doesn't have any problem with her contemporaries. A source close to Kaif asks, "What can she possibly get by spreading stories about Deepika? She is not the sort of person to resort to mud slinging. Someone is creating a misunderstanding between them."
