Is marriage on the cards anytime soon? “Saif is my man and I want to marry him. Emotionally we’re growing and we’re in love. Marriage is not a way to tie somebody down.”

Does your past come up between you two? “I felt the need to know everything about Saif first, considering the Casanova he was! I was petrified that I was getting into a relationship with him... but today, I can say, he’s a changed man.”

How did you react on Saif's quote stating that he sees a lot of Sharmila Tagore in you? “That's a great compliment from Saif. Sharmila Tagore was one of the only actresses in Indian cinema to strike a balance between doing parallel cinema and doing a commercial entertainer. I have constantly been doing roles in which I don't get type cast and I'm sure that the directors and the filmmakers know that now.”

Intimate scene cannot get easier than this, can it? An off screen couple getting cosy on screen. “Actually, to be honest with you, I would've done Kurbaan even if Saif wasn't there in the film. I would've stuck to the script, which was given to me. I'm sure he would've done the same. So of course, this love making scene is a bit over hyped because we are an off screen couple. When a viewer sees Kurbaan, they're not going to go back with just the kiss. What's important is our message of the film.” 

You think KJo is drifting away from his usual rom-coms? Would you expect a Kurbaan coming from a Dharma Production? “The whole idea is that when you are in a creative field, be it a producer, be it an actor, etc, we all have to experiment, we all have to discover and we all have to do different stuff. I don't think Karan Johar really wants to be a mediocre producer or a director. He has always pushed the envelope and he has always made great movies. If Karan doesn't do it than who else will?

On Karan Johar: 
“Kurbaan was a great journey because of Karan. KJO is not just a professional filmmaker with whom I discuss cinema; he’s a friend and philosopher on whom I rely upon when taking the most personal decisions. He’s truly a superlative person, multi-tasking all the time, making films, but always available for family and friends. There was also director Rensil D’Silva, who is edgy in personal life, so he brought a fresh take to the film that was real and slightly borderline... but it being a Karan Johar film, Kurbaan is also commercial, so there’s a wonderful balance.”

On Aamir V/S Saif:
“As for Saif... what can I say, he is truly one of the best actors in the country today so versatile. There’s so much to learn from Saif and Aamir opposite whom I am also cast in my next film, they keep me on my toes. Aamir is a method actor, Saif is both — method and spontaneous, you cannot take one Saif Ali Khan film and put it into another... you cannot compare an Omkara with a Love Aaj Kal. And while I enjoy different schools of acting, I rely on spontaneity, so I could glide through my role in Kurbaan as a result.

It’s different working with Saif because we know each other so well and there’s the need to switch off and go into character. That’s why we chose a real and serious kind of film instead of some romantic comedy that had flippant roles. It was easier to perform because the scenes were raw and edge of the seat.

As far working with Aamir goes it’s a dream come true, an actress's journey in bollwood is incomplete if you have not shared a screen space with him. He is a cinematic genius. I’m romancing one of the 3 idiots, but when he is as endearing as Aamir Khan who would complain? I had a blast shooting for this film. We’re looking forward to working together again I don’t know when that’ll be. But I’m glad I got to do at least one film with Aamir. It’s an achievement that I want my kids to know about.”
