In fact, Farah Khan has already announced her plans to direct Shah Rukh Khan’s arch rival and bollywood superstar, Akshay Kumar, in a new flick ‘Tees Maar Khan’. The bosom friendship between Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan went for the toss when Shah Rukh Khan did not give dates for her new project ‘Happy New Year’ in 2010, and instead went for his home production ‘Ra 1’, which is being directed by Anubhav Sinha. Even after that, Shah Rukh Khan intends to complete Farhan Akhtar’s sequel to ‘Don’, instead of going for Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’.
The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Shah Rukh Khan played truant with Farah Khan by asking her to rewrite the script of ‘Happy New Year’ several times. Initially, director Farah Khan took this all in good spirit and rewrote the script several times keeping in mind the changes suggested by Shah Rukh, but King Khan continued to make the same complaint again and again.
It was at that point that Farah Khan took it all to mean just delaying tactics and nothing more than that. Farah felt that Shah Rukh Khan was complaining about the script only to get enough time to complete ‘Ra 1’ and ‘Don’. She also felt that Shah Rukh did not want to work with her in the new project and hence decided to scrap it.
Sources say that Shah Rukh Khan and Farah were not at ease with each other for quite some time now and this had been obvious to their close friends. In fact, Farah Khan had systematically been distancing herself from Shah Rukh Khan Camp. She had also reduced the number of parties that she attended at Mannat.
The grapevine has it that one of the main reasons for this cooling of relationship between Shah Rukh and Farah was her husband Shirish Kunder. In fact, Farah Khan is said to have been furious with Shah Rukh for treating Shirish shabbily in the matter of directing ‘The Zoya Factor.’
Initially, Shah Rukh had offered the film to Shirish for direction but later changed his stance and gave the flick to some other director. Then, there was also dispute about SRK working in Shirish Kunder’s project ‘Joker’.
Finally, all these factors led to the cold war between SRK and Farah Khan and she decided to join hands with Akshay Kumar for ‘Tees Maar Khan’. The film is being co-produced by Akshay Kumar’s production house Hari Om Production with Shirish Kunder’s production house and will go on the floors next year.
But that’s not all Farah and Shirish spring yet another surprise. After launching Tees Maar Khan, they have now signed John Abraham for their second production. While Farah will direct TMK, Shirish will direct the John-starrer. This film will start along with Tees Maar Khan in March-April.
Says a source, "Today is Farah and Shirish's fifth wedding anniversary and the couple plans to celebrate it by launching their second home production with John Abraham. The final contract will be signed today."
Shirish and John have been in talks for over a year to do this film but John had other commitments. Last month, his dates were worked out. The source adds, "Shirish was initially in talks with Salman for the role but that didn't work out. Farah and Kunder have been regulars at all Sallu's events in the past year and Shirish really wooed him for his film. But when Khan didn't sign on the dotted line, John Abraham stepped in." John and Farah bonded over their common Parsi background during the making of Dostana, a film she choreographed for, in part.
