Kareena has a lot to celebrate like a cat that has swallowed the cream; she smacks her luscious lips and say’s, “Just when I was licking my wounds God above answered my prayers. Honestly, I’m delirious to think that I started 2009 with a whimper and ended it with a bang. Someone up there heard me.’’
Overwhelmed by the response to her new film. “Everywhere I go I am swamped by compliments for the role. The length of the role didn’t matter. I’m just glad to be part of a historic happening. When Raj Kumar Hirani and Aamir asked me to be part of their film I jumped at it. I knew the film would be special because of Raju and Aamir, and I was right. As far as our cinema is concerned Aamir is God.”
Reacting to the opinion that Kareena hardly has anything to do in the film Kareena says, “Who says I’ve nothing to do? I’m very part of the main drama. Would the story move forward if you remove my character?” Kareena is specially pleased by the compliments she has received for her pairing with Aamir. “Everyone in one voice thinks we look good together. I think Aamir and I make a fantastic pair. I’d love to do another film with him immediately, this time I don’t want share him with other pivotal characters.”
The incorrigible Bebo is looking forward to year ahead with confidence “2010 has a lot of promise. I sincerely wish the Midas touch continues. I’ll start the year with my idol, Shah Rukh Khan, with whom I’m travelling to Miami for RA 1. Then I’m going to be traipsing the globe with Saif in Agent Vinod. And, if Aamir keeps up his promise to me, the two of us will end up in a romantic film by the end of the year.’’
Looking back on the year, Kareena feels happy by the response to her performances in Kurbaan and 3 Idiots. “Both films are very precious to me. Kurbaan was intense, 3 Idiots was more fun. In 2009, I did films with all the Khans ... Salman, Aamir, Shah Rukh (I had a song with him in Billu) and of course Saif.” Jumping like a child, she asks, “Listen, is it wrong to love more than one Khan at a time? I’m guilty of just that. Shah Rukh and Gauri are my close friends. I love Saifu. And as for Aamir, well, what can I say? He’s the new Khan on my block.’’
Saif the love of her life will always be special about whom she says "Saif comes from a very cultured background; he is a man of the world. And he's seen so much of life; he's got his head very firmly on his shoulders. I can connect with this guy. He has a good sense of humour a charming man with a lot of culture. He always liked me on screen. He said I was someone he always wanted to meet."

Gamely she takes the blame for her duds. She knows the critics dipped their pens in poison when she did KI and MAMK. “My funda is simple,’’ said Bebo. “Actors should be like scientists, always willing to experiment. I experimented and I failed. That doesn’t take away from my acting abilities. If I don’t experiment, the same guys will write — she’s a plastic doll on screen. One does take chances with one’s roles and if the films fail, I’m more heartbroken than anyone else. Don’t forget films are all I live for. I give my films everything I have. So failure does affect me. But to write me off each time I have a flop is unfair.’’
Kareena is currently shooting with another newcomer director Siddharth Malhotra for the remake of ‘Stepmom’. “We have shot for a good portion of the film and I like what he has done so far. Karan has a knack of spotting talent and this is why you see so many films coming from his production house. He places his bet where the money is. Also, he knows how cinema evolves over a period of time”, says Kareena as she pauses to excuse herself for yet another round of lights, camera and action.
However, before she says’s goodbye, there is an important question still waiting to be asked – her new equation with ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. Amongst her newer lot of films like ‘Stepmom’ and ‘Agent Vinod’, there is also a long forgotten film of hers, ‘Milenge Milenge’, which is seemingly being revived. “I don’t know anything about the promotional plans for ‘Milenge Milenge’. Maybe it would now release in 2010. But then I have absolutely no problems sharing stage with Shahid for the film’s promotion. When I am willing to do films with him, why would I hesitate from the promotional perspective? I am there for the makers whenever they call me.” Kareena quashes another rumour. Well, it’s the Kareena season right now and looks like she’s enjoying every bit of it.
