Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was originally supposed to act in this film opposite husband Abhishek, but opted out followed by Gul Panag? Truth is, the Bachchan bahu was never approached and Gul was only tested for the role. But we’re glad she wasn’t asked, because honestly, audiences are fatigued by the Abhiash jodi already. And look who’s been taken on in Crooked instead, former Miss India Sarah Jane Dias!

That’s not all, Kangna Ranaut, who has just won her first National Award, too has entered the film. She takes Pakistani actress Soniya Jahan’s role since Soniya didn’t have the required work permit. Kangna was the original choice but didn’t have dates last year. But now that she’s free and Soniya is out, Kangna’s signed the film in which she gets to play a very meaty role. And if rumours are to be believed, the crazy signing spree of beauties has not ended yet. Good for Abhishek Bachchan who is on quite a winning spree after a powerful performance opposite his own Paa and holding his ground through out the film not only that AB Junior has emerged as winner in his television debut beating the likes of Salman, SRK and even his own father.
According to the latest TRP ‘Bingo’ – a new reality game show on an entertainment channel, Abhishek has made an outstanding debut, something he was nervous to contemplate before, especially after a ‘gauge-o-meter’ to compare him every time with his father megastar – Amitabh Bachchan.
But, guess what? Abhishek has broken all the TRP records of the Caleb’s first show on the television, which includes his dad’s appearance in ‘Bigg Boss 3.’ According to an overnight TV audience measurement agency, the first show of Abhishek registered a TRP of 3.5 percent, which is much higher to Akshay Kumar’s debut ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ season one, which had 1.67 percent. While Salman Khan’s ‘Dus Ka Dum’ had 2.54 percent, even Amitabh’s ‘Bigg Boss 3’ had 3.24 percent!
Idea Cellular is one of the sponsors of the show and they say that there were varied reasons for the company to sponsor the programme. Pradeep Srivastava, CMO of Idea Cellular says, “It features Abhishek Bachchan, our brand ambassador. The format of the show allows value-added services (VAS) interactivity to engage the audience. Besides, we have a longstanding relation with the channel.” We can only say that with ‘Bingo’, Abhishek has hit one jackpot he will cherish for long.
Speaking about this, a visibly elated Abhishek said, "I have just been informed by the Colors team that the opening ratings of 'National Bingo Night' have broken all records. I am happy that through this show, I have got a fantastic opportunity to connect with people from all corners of India. And if the ratings are anything to go by then I am excited with the sheer outreach television as a medium has to offer - I am happy that people watched my debut episode with much anticipation and that we have got winning numbers in TVRs."
Well with such impressive ratings, all we can say is that Jr. Bachchan is here to stay.
