On difficult period with SRK:
On the contrary it empowered me because that was the first time in my carrier my dates were going to be decided by the leading hero Vinod(Chopra) and Raju (Hirani)are testimony to this. When SRK decided he was not doing MBBS, they did come to me and say (Sanjay) Dutt saab had agreed to do it. But because I was attached to SRK’S company,
I said my dates will be decided by him – if he is doing Munnabhai I will be doing it. But once that incident happened with SRK (when Salman created a ruckus and SRK threw her out ), and I was out of his movies, I dared to make the choices I did. I do not want to judge SRK or what happened then... We are friends now.
On discussing the incident with SRK:
“It’s really weird with him whenever he would meet me socially during those days, he did apologise, which was never taken up in the open. Never in public.
He said it wasn’t right and he couldn’t tell me all his reasons for what happened.. He was awkward about it. But last year at Karan Johar’s party he and Gauri came up to me
And they came out with whole lot of reasons. I was like “Really what difference does it make? Because I am the one person who didn’t hinge my career on yours!”
On working with SRK Again:
“If a filmmaker comes with an offer, then we will see how it goes, We both maintain that.. But right now there are no such talks.”
On her much-celebrated marriage with Abhishek Bachchan:
“Abhishek and I fight over such trivial things... nothing major. I can't carry a sulk for too long. After any argument, it is generally me who breaks the ice. Besides, technology has made things so much easier- what are emotions for?"
On why she is not part of Bollywood girlie gangs:
“I have always preferred to hang out with the guys. I am not a part of the Bollywood girlie gangs. Don't get me wrong, but I can't see myself saying stuff like "Hey, babes... love your bag!" Some words these!
When was the last time she fought with someone
Little squabbles are a part of everyday life. Fortunately, there’s been nothing serious. Besides I think it makes life entertaining! If it was all- Saccharine sweet, you wouldn’t quite believe it, would you?
On wishing she wasn’t a celebrity:
I haven’t ever thought that I find that fake. People who are in the public eye are making a conscious choice to be there and so to turn around and complain about it would be ridiculous. If you don’t like it walk away. You have made a choice and pitfalls come with the territory. When you choose a vocation that’s put you in the spotlight don’t complain about it.
Last time you gifted someone something expensive:
The most precious and generous gift that I can give in life is my time.
People who had a huge impact on your life:
That’s a tough question for me to answer, because if I pick one person, I will be accused of being biased. I’d pick the men in my life…My father and my father-in –law: simply because of who they are as people, the kind of personal experiences they have had and their indomitable spirit. They are incredibly inspiring. Abhishek for being who he is, given where he comes from and the incredible pressures that he deals with in terms of expectations. Despite everything he is so focused and so real. My mother and my mother-in-law: for the lives they have led and the women they are. I am surrounded by greatness.
On receiving compliments on her eternal beauty:
It always feels good .I will be human enough to admit that.
When was the last time somebody touched your heart?
The film I am working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzarish it’s the story of a quadriplegic and I play the nurse. The scenes that we have in the film are just so overwhelming.. I would say the film touched my heart.
On her famous giggle:
I think I laugh a lot, which has been defined as the giggle and now I am stuck with that perception of me. But I laugh with life a lot.
