Sonam
Kapoor, who entered Bollywood with Saawariya, a film, which didn't exactly make waves at the BO, this zesty, perky gal has come a long way! Fresh from the success of I Hate Luv Storys with some impressive projects in her kitty, Sonam is now awaiting the release of Aisha, a film produced by her kid sister Rhea. Sonam talks about sibling revelry, her future projects, her co-stars, screen idol, favourite love stories and the pros and cons of being a star daughter.

A style diva
“I don’t know about the style icon image – I’ve always loved clothes. The style icon tag is a little embarrassing, actually. It’s really just an expression of your individuality. If you’re comfortable in your skin, style comes automatically.”
Working with Shahid and Imran
“Shahid is wonderful; he’s very nice, very kind, sweet, gentle while Imran and I have great chemistry. Even off-screen, we share a great equation, and I think that’s translated on screen. We’re complete opposites in real life and we’re always ribbing each other, joking... I enjoy Imran’s company I don’t feel judged around him.”
Her home production Aisha
With Aisha being a family project, isn't she worried about the over-expectations from all quarters? Sonam replies in a cool-as-a-cucumber tone: "Frankly, my job as an actress is over! Now it's the producer and director's call. But, I really had a great time during the shoot and now I'm very relaxed. So, no fears!”
‘ I only compete with myself ’
Sonam’s known for her poise and down-to-earth approach. How does she handle the reports of competition between her and Deepika Padukone? "I only compete with myself! So, I don't pay heed to such reports," says she. But then, why is it that two actresses of same genre, can never be lasting friends. The lady says: “Maybe because they don't have time for each other! That's why all my friends are non-filmi people!"
Real life love stories
“Yes, I do and hope I will be part of a successful love story in real life soon. For me, love is enduring and everlasting; it makes the world go round. Romance is pretty much in our blood. I’m a true idealist, I’m a romantic, but I don’t like perfect things in my life”

Link up rumours with director Punit Malhotra
“Yeah, because he's a good-looking man and I'm a good-looking girl, so chalo jodi bana do. But nothing is true. When he came to me with the script, I thought ‘Yeh director hai? He should be an actor. I also thought he wouldn't have written the script. Not only had he written the script but also the dialogue. He has worked on some of the biggest hits of the decade such as KANK and Dostana. Punit and I are not seeing each other, we’re just friends, and the rumours are very awkward, weird and uncomfortable. I’m 25 yaar, I want to have fun.”
Screen idol
“Sridevi, for all that she has achieved across every genre of cinema. If I become even 10 per cent of the actress she was, I will have achieved something! I think she is the only actress who has been able to get an opening for a film featuring her in the lead.”
My man
“Oh it may sound cliched to you, but what turns me on in a guy is his kindness and intelligence. He should be funny and have a respectful nature. Good looks goes without saying. But what I will judge him most on is how well he gets along with my family.”
Ideal date
“I don't like the idea of a date where you have to force yourself to have a conversation with your man; I don't like such complications. Food is the way to my heart! I love Thai, Punjabi and Japanese cuisine. So, an ideal date for me would be dinner, a film and a long drive. And girls, a little black dress, killer heels, soft looking skin and a great smell will never let you down. Just walk in confidently and steal your man.”
Being a star daughter
“I have my dad's experience behind me and because I'm a girl, there's not much comparison. I don't have to talk to people directly they go to dad. I don't have any awkward conversations about money as people have too much respect for him and he has got a good reputation. The biggest stars in our country are Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra who are not from film families and you also have Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan … it is all about your destiny.”
Daddy cool
“My dad is protective of Rhea and me, but I would only fall for a guy who stands up to him without disrespecting him. My dad has been immensely good with our friends. He's a sweetheart. But that doesn't mean that I want someone just like him. I don't really have a role model for the kind of guy I want.”
