When Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were a couple, their admission of love came forth in just muted tones. Now the industry is abuzz with the talks of their split. Salman Khan himself broke the silence and confirmed that their relation is being dispersed. Salman has thrown a bombshell by admitting that he and Katrina have indeed parted ways. “I have broken up with Katrina. We were friends then for everybody, we are friends now,” Salman is quoted to have said.

The Dabangg star got a little philosophical when asked about the reason of his break-up from Katrina. “Koi cheez tootati hain toh isliye kyonki ya toh different ways chali gayi hain, ya ek shakhs ki growth nahin hui, ya ek ne kuch aur path chun liya hai, ya sensibility samajh mein nahi aati, ya thinking galat ho gayi hain (A relationship breaks when it strays off in different directions, or when one of the two has stopped growing, or when the other person has chosen a different path, or when the thinking has got distorted).”

Katrina Kaif did not share her views as always on Salman’s declaration, rather she left the whole matter to God. She believed that no body can predict his future. Life does not move according to planned strategy. She said that her plans have not worked well for her life so she trusted only God who plans for everyone. "I don't think any of us know the future. We always try and make plans and I have learnt from my experience that you really cannot make plans. God has made his own plans for you," Katrina said.

However the main reason for the split is said to be Katrina Kaif’s growing proximity to co- star Ranbir Kapoor. Sources close to Katrina Kaif say that the couple had been having problems for quite some time now but matter came to head on the issue of Ranbir. Initially, Sallubhai did not take the Katrina-Ranbir link up rumours seriously. In fact, Katrina had told him that she did not have any interest in Ranbir, despite of Ranbir having a crush on her on the sets of Santoshi’s film.

However, when the unit of Santoshi’s ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’ returned from Ooty with juicy stories about Ranbir and Katrina, Salman became very upset and confronted her over the matter. But, Katrina told him to keep off the link up talks about her co- stars. The buzz is that Katrina also referred to Salman Khan-Asin link up during the London and Chandigarh spells of upcoming film ‘London Dreams’. As she did not object or questioned him about those talks, Kat wanted the same behaviour from Salman too.

Ranbir and Katrina may be still announcing to the world that they are ‘just friends’, but the frequency at which they are being spotted together speaks otherwise recently two enjoyed a secret date in London. The supposedly couple were also spotted together in Mumbai prior to this there was strong buzz about Katrina having flown down to meet up with Ranbir in New York while he was at a film shoot there. Reports of the two dating began flowing in after the duo co-starred in the film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’. It’s only after this movie was made that Ranbir parted ways with his ex-girlfriend Deepika.

On the other hand Salman is also distancing himself from Katrina and is not keen to share screen space with his ex-flame again. News is that he has opted for Deepika Padukone instead of Katrina Kaif for the remake of South Indian film, ‘Bodyguard’ that his brother-in-law, Atul Kulkarni is going to remake. A source says, "Salman is keen on working with Deepika. He feels they will look good on screen. When Atul suggested Katrina's name, he shot it down saying the project needed a fresh pairing. He's watched the original and thought Deepika would fit the role perfectly."
