You are back in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Power. Why are you playing musical chairs with this film?
Uh, nothing is confirmed on that yet. I am still in talks. So I don’t know where these stories are coming from. I’ll talk about it when something happens or doesn’t happen.
What was your reaction when you learnt that your friend Rohit Shetty was making a film with Shah Rukh Khan?
We all should work with new people. When Rohit first told me about his plans we discussed what he should make and what he should not! We were friends before we worked together. I’ve known him for many years. I think he should be working with everyone.
You'd said earlier that either you're a star trying to make your way to the top, and people trying to keep you down, or you're on the top, and even if you slip, people desperately try to keep you on that pedestal. Where do you see yourself?
I'd like to believe that I'm climbing up; I wouldn't want to be on the other side. You work hard to keep climbing. And then when you have a certain type of people around you, you realize I must be going down.
Between being an Oscar-winning actor and a mass-success star, which would Ajay Devgn opt to be, given a choice?
I think a mass-success star, definitely. An Oscar is a judgment of five people, of 10 people. Mass stardom is the judgment of millions of people who have decided to put you there.
You had two New Year resolutions – spending more time with kids, quitting smoking.
One I have managed, the first, the second one, I don't know... I want to quit.
You seems wiser now, you don't try to get even with people?
I have grown up in things like, I don't react unnecessarily. My temper is rationalized. I will only get angry and fight with someone I have to spend my whole life with. I will not waste my time on somebody who is misbehaving with me, and tomorrow, I will go home and he will go home. I don't try to get even, no. I just cut myself off and I think that is my way of getting even. Their loss.
But your alleged animosity with SRK is now legendary…
Those rumours are too old. So old that it’s a lie now. Someone please kill it. When Kajol’s dad (the late Shomu Mukerji) expired, I called her friends up and that included Shah Rukh and Karan. Just because I don’t socialise and people don’t see me with them, doesn’t mean I have a problem with them. Shah Rukh and I are friends.
Reportedly, you now have problems with Akshay Kumar.
Can there be something else besides being enemies and friends?
To become friends you need to know each other and ditto to become enemies. We’ve hardly met. Why would I have a problem with Akshay? He’s not crossed my path. I’ve not crossed his.
Why does everyone look at this as cause for a problem?
Un logon ko koi kaam-dhanda nahin hain (they are all idle minds). They are stupid fools and arseholes. That’s the only way I can put it.
Apparently, you’ve ordered Kajol to not work for the next three years…
I will never order her. When she wants to work, she will and when she doesn’t want to, she won’t. She is the one who said she didn’t want to work for a certain time.
Who deals better with heartbreaks - men or women?
It depends from person to person. But I’ve noticed men take a lot of time to get over it. I’m not saying women are not emotional – they are very, very emotional. But they are strong-headed. Once they make a decision, they don’t go back. I think emotionally men are the weaker sex.
