| Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri late on Monday night, is expected to deliver her first child in the early hours of Wednesday. Doctors induced labour for Aishwarya on Tuesday, said a source at the hospital. The delivery is expected
anytime between 2am and 4am on Wednesday, said the source.
Aishwarya is under the care of Dr Vinita Salvi, head of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Andheri hospital. The procedure involves applying a gel on the cervix to induce labour. It is done when the woman is past or close to the expected delivery date, or has uterine problems. Labour is induced after the doctors take the Bishop’s score, a pre-labour scoring system to check the cervical dilation.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not in labour yet, but the mom to be has checked in the VVIP suite into the Seven Hills Hospital at Marol. After a guessing game that kept bookies and most of India in overdrive from last week, the Bachchan baby may be due for delivery soon.
Aishwarya was spotted with husband Abhishek and parents Vrinda and Krishnaraj at the hospital. Father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan was also spotted accompanying her, later joined by sister- in –law Shweta and Jaya Bachchan.
The entire family was inside with her for sometime, after which they all left to go home. Abhishek saw them off at the hospital’s entrance and then went back to Level 5, which is entirely reserved for the Bachchan’s.
An entire floor of Seven Hills Hospital has been booked for Aishwarya. It also includes special rooms where Aishwarya's close relatives can stay. Only senior most medical staff is allowed in the fifth floor booked by Bachchans. The staff will be allotted special passes for security purpose.
A source reveals, "The doctors have asked her to check in a few days before she goes into labour. They don't want to take a risk of traveling later as their house is far (Juhu) from the hospital. The hospital resembles a guarded fortress with media people being kept at bay."
Aishwarya made many public appearances in past one month. With an unmatched glow on her face, Ash gets full marks for her smart dressing. She was last seen at Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla's 25th anniversary party in Mumbai.
