"I love casting people who are real. People who have gone through highs and lows to reach a stature and people look up to them for their hard work. Sunny is being shown in a bright light with an exotic image, but I sensed that she must have gone through a lot to earn a name in an industry which people don't appreciate," adds Bhatt.
Sunny has appeared in various reality shows in the US, Bhatt feels Sunny has an emotional 'edge' which could work wonders for Jism 2 "'Jism 2' narrates the story of a woman who transcends from the 'body' to the 'soul'. I wanted to approach an actress who not only has the physical attributes but also the emotional 'edge' to carry off the complexity of the role. I see Sunny as a perfect fit for the film and the script. Had approached Bipasha Basu and Mallika Sherawat for the role earlier, but things didn't work out," he added.
Bhatt pointed out "the line between a forbidden zone like porn and mainstream is progressively getting blurred". He said he was keen on casting her in the 2003 film Kalyug, but it did not work out. "I have never felt she should not be considered for mainstream films," he added. "She is a sweet looking girl."
Not only Mahesh Bhatt but also Bollywood’s Heartthrob Salman Khan also lends his support to Sunny. Salman claims not to have seen her work "She is also a human being. Everybody does something (for livelihood), you are a journalist, she does something else, and I act. Her family doesn't object to what she is doing. I have heard that there are people who are big fans of her, though I have never seen her before or her picture. But she has many hits on the website." say’s Salman.
Sunny say’s she is not afraid to disclose her identity and dares viewers to make their own judgment about her. "You can call me every name in the book. My friends and family have already accepted me, so why should I be scared?”
Leone does her best to maintain a link to Sikh traditions, even if more in theory than in practice. But she’s unlikely to disavow her career path due to religion.“Girls will leave the industry claiming that they found God,” she says. “Well, the fact is, God has always been with them the entire time.” |
