| Just when we thought she was born for tragic roles, she surprised us with her fun performances in films like Tanu Weds Manu. She had us gasping for her in her sexy avatar in Double Dhamaal and
Rascals.
Link-ups and affairs apart, she is also known to speak her mind about her co-stars, be it Sanjay Dutt or Ajay Devgn. Unabashed and outspoken, Kangna is now flaunting her current flame, an English doctor, even as she has zipped miles ahead in her career, leaving ex-boyfriend, actor Adhyayan Suman way behind.
Kangana is quite happy with what she has achieved in five years, particularly considering that she is an outsider in the industry “It’s very fulfilling of course to see people appreciate your work, but I still have a very long way to go. It was very tough. I still face many challenges, but I am happy with the place I am in today.”
She may be known for her intensity and emotive portrayals of conflicted characters but Kangana says that she is essentially a ‘fun-loving’ person and the comedy genre comes quite naturally to her “I’m a very fun-loving person in real life and comedy comes naturally to me. In fact, I always found intense characters challenging. But as an outsider in the industry you don’t have a choice in the roles you are offered. You take what you get. I don’t regret the earlier films I did though – they were fantastic and brought me to this point.” Added the bold actress.
Ask her on which talented actress she would like to model her career on and she surprises you by saying no one “See, everybody has a different path and destination. You cannot be like someone else. I am wise enough to understand that my path is different. But I hope at the end of my career I achieve what I want, be successful and happy. I have no desire to be like somebody else.”
Actresses are known to be catty with each other, your take “The ones who indulge in it are simply threatened by the ones who are doing well especially by the girls who do not belong to the industry. If you see my success rate, it’s very different from any of the heroines of the past. It will be one of a kind because of the line-up of films I have. I am somebody who can carry a film on her own because of the kind of scripts and roles I get.”
She was kept out from the promotions of Rascals on Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn’s insistence. Are they still miffed with her “Davidji said he is extremely fond of me and that he is very sorry for what he did, it doesn’t matter. I am not miffed with anybody. You can ask the people who are miffed with me. I can’t speak for them. I am open to working with anyone.”
Being constantly embroiled in controversies is she fed up “I do think I have become controversy’s favourite child. It’s very annoying. When you get up in the morning and read all kind of things, which you have no clue about, you just freak out. But you can’t do anything. As they say, ‘jab haathi chalte hain, toh kutte bhaukte hain’.
What do she fail to do as a celebrity that she would love to do otherwise “I feel that I am very young to take this kind of stress. Most of the girls of my age are still studying. I feel sorry for myself. At a very young age I have been subjected to this kind of pain, problems and situations.”
She is not single anymore and is dating a UK based doctor, does she think it’s better to date a non-actor “You don’t love people for their profession. Earlier I didn’t know he was a doctor. I met him through common friends. It’s nice and refreshing. I like to talk to him. There is so much more to talk about than just films and gossiping. It’s like your open and connected to the world outside, when I talk to him.”
Three mistakes that she wouldn’t want to repeat “Date a married man, smoke on the sets and not take my parents calls, because eventually they are the people who will always be with you.”
Kangana claims that 2012 will be a "landmark year" for her career. The actress will appear in the sequels to several high-profile films " Der Ishqiya", "Krrish 2", " Tanu Weds Manu 2" and Priyadarshan's "Tezz". |
