| "I am ecstatic with all the compliments that have come my way even though the film's release was a month ago. What touched my heart most was the acknowledgement coming from my parents. They said to me that within five minutes of The Dirty Picture, they forgot that the girl on screen was their daughter and instead took home Silk, I was always wary of their reactions."
Did she anticipate this kind of adulation post the film “I feel immense gratitude for the kind of work I am getting and the fact that people are embracing it. I feel grateful for the critical and commercial success that has come my way. These last few months have been completely crazy, and that's why I needed to get away for a few days. I went to a beautiful ranch and chilled out, ate, slept and watched TV serials. It was an idyllic place with no network. My first uninterrupted holiday after years!”
Vidya admits it's the greed for good roles that keeps her on her toes "I am a very greedy actor. I want to play different people; I want to do different kinds of films. Even if it means that the hero is the protagonist, as long as I have enough to do in the film I am more than happy doing it. I am very happy with the kind of films being made today and that I am getting a chance to work in them. They are appealing to the audience as well, which is most important. Women-oriented films are being made since years, but it is only today that they are tasting success."

The actress is said to be dating CEO of UTV movies Siddharth Roy Kapoor, she believes in the institution of marriage but is not thinking about it right now "My career is going good. I am very happy. Emotionally and mentally I am in a very happy space, by god's grace. I am not thinking about marriage as of now, but I'm sure a right time will come for it also. I believe in the institution of marriage. I will not ignore it for a longer duration, but yeah, for now, I am keeping it aside. Right now, I am enjoying the phase of being in love. I will definitely get married,"
Ask her about the true definition of love and she explains with the glitter in her eyes “Love is about sharing, accepting,
understanding and caring. It's much more than what we experience and far beyond what it conveys. True love is unconditional, as I have discovered in this relationship. It is the most secure place to be in. When you are with the person you love and who loves and accepts you unconditionally, it's a celebration. It's a celebration of self as the person celebrates the person you are and not what he wants you to become.
Will she consider live in with person she loves “Honestly, I don't enjoy the idea of living in with someone before marriage. I will move in with the man I love only after marriage.”
So, is she going to join the size-zero bandwagon afer showing that curvy figure in The Dirty Picture but copying others doesn't seem to be Vidya's cup of tea "No way!" she exclaims. "Being fit is good. I don't like it when everyone starts looking alike. I think we should celebrate being different. One shouldn't follow something because it suits someone else. I would want to be fit, but then I also want people to accept me the way I am. Look at Salma Hayek... she is not the thinnest, but she is among the hottest. Personally speaking, what appeals to me is the Indian figure. It's fantastic to experiment, but you need to maintain your style." |
