Shirish opened up about the fight, which followed a heated argument, saying both of them were in an inebriated state. “The good part is that we sat together, had a chat about whatever we had in our hearts — any misunderstandings or anger. We have spoken about it (the fight),” says Shirish, adding that his wife, director Farah Khan, and Shah Rukh have also settled their differences. “They have also patched-up. Everything is sorted for good.” Good.

"If you are a family for 20 years and some misunderstanding crops up, things need not be said, they are clearly understood.” said Nadiadwala somewhat incoherent with delight. "That's exactly what happened in this meeting. That was the beauty of it." He insisted that the misunderstanding was resolved within minutes. "The rest of the conversation was about movies and other aspects of our lives. Look, Shah Rukh, Sajid Khan and I were the main guys at Shirish and Farah's wedding. We are family and we shall remain a family."

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan refused to categorically state whether he had slapped Shirish Kunder or not however, he sounded happy about settling the differences, "We can resolve our issues... certain issues we can resolve with hugs and happiness and I want to keep it personal," he said. 

It was a fight that had a long history to it. Guests were having a ball when at around 4.30 am Shah Rukh Khan entered the venue straight after the Filmfare awards with three bodyguards. According to eyewitnesses he was apparently in an inebriated condition. Soon, he headed towards filmmaker Shirish Kunder and roughed him up. Of course, what everyone is wondering is what could have been the trigger? Camp Farah maintains that it was a random, unsolicited attack by the usually cool and collected Khan, but other sources say that Kunder had been misbehaving and Sanjay Dutt had already expressed his displeasure.

The shell-shocked Kunder apparently left immediately. We tried to probe the cause for Shah Rukh's provocation. Says an eyewitness, "We didn't know what was happening. We saw SRK enter. Then we saw him head towards Shirish from behind the director. SRK pulled Shirish down to the ground by his long hair. We were all shocked. We had never seen SRK behave this way. Before anyone could react Baba Dewan the owner of Aurus ran in and intervened. SRK told Dewan to keep out. Dewan said the place belonged to him and he must intervene. The fight would've been prolonged had Sanjay Dutt not pulled SRK away from the ugly scene."

Kunder's wife Farah Khan was one of Shah Rukh's closest friends. They fell out a year back. Kunder, we believe, faced the brunt of SRK's pent-up wrath at Dutt's party. Shah Rukh was smarting since Kunder made a sarcastic comment on SRK's Ra.1 when it was released. But the immediate provocation was apparently a comment that Kunder made about SRK and Priyanka Chopra at the party that SRK overheard. “But that is hogwash. Kunder didn't say anything about Priyanka. Why would he? Everyone was there to celebrate a success, not to create ugliness. " Says a source close to Kunder.

Farah who was shooting all night for Bela Sehgal's film got to know of the fight only when she returned home in the morning. Shocked and hurt Farah says, "Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on. It saddens me to see him doing the same."

Conforming the incident Farah Khan said, "Shirish, my husband, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards in Sanjay Dutt's party. Shah Rukh asked Shirish why he had tweeted against him... There was no provocation from our side. He had screamed at Shirish telling him that he would destroy me as well." The Joker director had made nasty remarks about RA.One after its release. Kunder had tweeted: "I just heard a 150 Cr firework fizzle."

The actor's enmity with Kunder apprently stems from the days when he refused to do latter's "Joker". Shirish Kunder took potshots at SRK on Twitter after the release of SRK's sci-fi flick, Ra. One. He tweeted, "The super hero in Ra One has all the powers in the world, but to entertain." Going a step further, Shirish called it a flop.

He went on to compare the business of Ra.One with collection of Salman Khan's blockbuster flick, Bodyguard on the first day. The filmmaker tweeted, "Bodyguard is trending. Everything else is pending." Shirish was once close to SRK and he has worked as editor for his hit movies like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

When contacted, Shirish said that he didn't even know when SRK walked in. Recollecting being dragged by the hair and pushed on the couch, he said, "Shah Rukh punched and jumped on me. And he had three bodyguards with him. I don't know what got him. I was numb with shock so I couldn't react. He kept screaming at me, 'what do you think of yourself? I'll see to it that you're out of this industry."

Asserting that he didn't know what instigated SRK into attacking him, Shirish stated, "I was totally unprepared for this kind of an attack. If I was standing in some area where I would expect some goondaism, I would have been better prepared. But this is a classy party. Who would expect someone to jump on you from behind?" The director adds that Dutt and Baba intervened to stop SRK's attack. "I walked out of the party after that. He is taking out his personal frustrations on anyone he comes across."
