You are doing Yash Raj film with SRK and Katrina Kaif; didn’t you feel insecure sharing screen space with her in the film?
No, when I choose films, I see the script. I don’t care about anything else. I have a lot of confidence in myself as an actor. Katrina Kaif is the biggest star in the country but I have no insecurities about her too!
Rumours say’s the film is a remake of their yesteryear hit Daag.
They don’t believe in remaking films. They’ve never bought anyone else’s scripts or looked at their own previous work for inspiration. Whether the films are received as good or bad, the Chopras want them to be perceived as original. This is a film, which has an old soul, but a young heart. A film that is classic in its look, but contemporary in its language.
Are you following the size zero trend? A certain section of media wrote you off as anorexic.
I have been like this only. This size zero thing is a big myth because the size is actually meant for babies. How will I fit into babies' clothes? On a serious note, I work for 17-18 hours everyday and sleep for very few hours so do you really feel I can survive being so thin? If I were not fit I would have been hospitalised. I work out everyday and eat consciously. I am just right! I don’t think people even understand what anorexia is. I used to be a model and I think I have a very good body; great skin, great height, and I love myself. When I love myself I can’t succumb to things like these.
You are declared as the new Rani Mukherjee of the YRF Camp. Comment?
I think comparing a newcomer such as myself to such an experienced actress is demeaning her status. She is one of the best actresses this country has had. Compared to her my work is very little.
Once and for all clarify, what’s the truth about Ranveer and you?
We were declared a couple by media, broken up by media, poor Sonakshi was thrown into this picture by media and at times I feel as if I am a part of some off-screen film story going on. I think filmmaking should be left to us!
What sort of girl would be apt for Ranveer?
He will need someone who is not very ambitious. Someone who will be able to take care of him, his home and is the quintessential housewife. Someone who dresses up really well and waits for him to return home. Trust me, some guys may laugh at this but Ranveer takes these things very seriously. (Laughs) You can pick up any matrimonial ad from the newspaper and that is the girl Ranveer needs in his life.
Has a man ever cheated on you?
Yes and for me there can be no explanation for cheating in a relationship. It’s a no-no. You can’t do that. If you’re committed to me in a relationship you can’t believe infidelity is fine. I’ve never cheated on my man. For me, fidelity is most important in a relationship. It’s disrespectful if you cheat on someone. It’s like you’re treating a girl like a piece of meat or commodity. Nowadays when I speak to boys about fidelity I think I’m speaking to aliens. They don’t understand fidelity.
Did the fight between you and Katrina Kaif over a make-up artist really happen?
Well, there are too many make-up artists in this country and we both can have individual ones for ourselves. I never really had any tussle with Katrina Kaif. She is someone I genuinely respect a lot. I am doing a film with her and I like to maintain cordial relations with every actor I work with so when the news came out I was surprised that something as petty as a make up artist could make way to a headline. |
