came full circle for the couple though, when both the actors had
to shoot for romantic scenes at the Hidimba Temple in Rajasthan,
and were even put up together at Udaipur’s heritage hotel
“Both Ranbir and Deepika were spending long hours at the shoot
and they started talking about their past. Though both of them
thought they have moved on, during the conversation they
realized that they are still in love with each other. Ranbir,
being the charmer that he is, would woo Deepika with his antics,
and they would laugh and giggle during the shoot. Ayaan, a close
buddy to both, happily played the role of Cupid,” informs
someone from the unit of the film.
In
fact, with so much water under the bridge, they were initially
hesitant to talk to each other during the first few days of the
shoot. They were only cordial with each other. Ranbir realized
that it would affect the film and he was the first one to break
the ice. “Ranbir is an extremely well behaved kid. He respects
Deepika and her family. There was not a single day he didn’t
taken care of Deepika during the shoot. In fact, Neetu Singh was
also there, and the women got along like a house on fire,”
adds the source. And though they were talking about the past and
trying to resolve their differences, they were even having minor
tiffs.
Karan
Johar specially invited them and as producer of YJHD to the most
talked about party of the season his birthday bash which, was
attended by whos who of bollywood. Ranbir had booked a suite in
the same hotel that night “Ranbir came straight from the
airport and didn’t want to go home. He wanted to freshen up at
the hotel and when he came to know that even Deepika is coming
for the party at the same time, he asked her to join him. They
both had their make-up and hairstylist in the suite and they
both got ready for the black-tie event and rocked the party.”
Karan, who has many B-town reconciliations to his credit, probably felt that if he could bring the couple back together, it would be great. They both come from prestigious families and have maintained their dignity in public even after their split. Deepika respects the fact that Ranbir didn’t badmouth her, even after she slammed him on national television in a moment of impulsive over sharing. That they had made up and relegated the past to where it belongs was clear at KJo’s party, where they danced together till the wee hours. “They left together and Ranbir dropped Deepika home,” says the source.
However, on being subtly asked if it’s love yet again, head strong Deepika Padukone shrugging off the rumours said, “It still hasn`t happened to me - falling in love with my ex.” Recalling her torrid affair with her ex boyfriend, she said, “I have had ups and downs in my personal life. But I am a strong person, you know. I am.” She nevertheless claimed that now she shares a comfortable equation with Ranbir - something that was missing before “Today, Ranbir and I understand each other better. We have found a friendship that we didn`t have when we dated,” revealed the actress.
She loves him as a co-star and friend, but there’s just no chance, says Deepika Padukone, of her ever getting back in a relationship“I’ve had a good time shooting with the team. Ranbir has evolved immensely as an artiste and is a fabulous co-star. I observe him on the sets; he’s so involved with every scene,” says Deepika, adding, “It’s always a pleasure to work with friends and learn while working with them.”
Most people are wondering whether the duo will be able to recreate the chemistry that was apparent in their first film together, Bachna Ae Haseeno “Ranbir and I understand that; but we don’t feel the pressure to make our on-screen chemistry work. We’re aware of the speculations around our reel romance. We don’t let it affect us,” she says. “And because we are not paying heed to anything apart from our work, the chemistry will be great.”
Riding high on the success of her recent hit, Cocktail, a confident Padukone, who broke up with Ranbir over allegations of his infidelity, says, “We are back to being good friends, but there is no question of us dating again. I have a certain comfort level with Ranbir and there is no awkwardness owing to our split. If I was not comfortable with him, I wouldn’t have signed a film opposite him,” she says, referring to filmmaker Ayan Mukherji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which stars the two.
But what about rumours of them spending a lot of quality time bonding on the sets in Rajasthan and Manali? “Yes, we spent time, but it’s only media that projected as if we were ever alone. Ayan and the other crew was always with us,” she says. |
