But how come you were seen on the Formula One circuit all of a sudden?
(Smiles) I love fast cars and hot guys! I have been a Formula One fan since Michael Schumacher times. Even after his retirement I like Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. I am a huge fan of these drivers and when I got to know that Singapore is hosting the first night race of F1 I decided to be there. Besides I love the Singaporean food. I have lived in Singapore for two years and love Chicken Rice and Chilly Sauce there. I was also told that Imraan and I will get an opportunity to drive a vintage car there which we were not allowed to later on. But I had my friends there too so all of us had a great time.
How was it having Imraan for company?
He knows all about the aerodynamics of the car etc. He can even be a good automobile engineer! He was busy focussing on the technical aspects of the car while I was busy looking at their sexy drivers (laughs)! I met Shilpa Shetty there too and the atmosphere was just electric on the track.
So which F1 driver was smitten by your beauty?
I am sure they thought I was just another pretty girl.
Are you passionate about something other than f1?
I love to play Burn out Revenge on my X-Box. I like speed. I’ve also always wanted to go backpacking all across India. I can meet so many different people. I believe your perspective towards life widens when you travel. I want to do something for my country.
What is next on the cards?
Since I am starting to promote Delli 6 in December I am going to visit dad in London for four days as he is shooting for 'Slumdog Millionaire' there. I am also planning to launch my own website soon where I will write blogs etc. I will also announce my forthcoming films when the right time comes.
Did her dad critique her first performance?
He was just flabbergasted when he saw the movie. He said to me, 'I've always knew you looked good, but I didn't know you could act.
Anil Kapoor is a better father or a better actor?
A better father any day.
What is the one thing you know for sure, Sonam?
I know I will never ever get involved with an actor. A relationship needs a grounding factor; we can't both be flying in the air. I’d be attracted to someone who is very, very sharp, who reads a lot and who is just a really nice person because it's very hard to find that these days.
Style philosophy:
"Fashion is art to me. I like mixing vintage pieces with current ones; I repeat my outfits often, but wear them differently each time around."
Accessory alert:
"I love antique jewellery, watches, unique shoes and bags from Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Balenciaga and Prada. And, I love my Loubs! (Christian Louboutin)."
Fashion influences:
"Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe. I am inspired by old Hollywood and old Bollywood, when dressing was feminine, sensual, romantic and mysterious."
Wardrobe peek:
"A David Brooke sequinned vintage dress from Frock, New York. Yves Saint Laurent blue and black dress from the ’80s. Anything by Anamika Khanna!"
Fashion jaunts:
"Jeffrey and Bergdorf Goodman in New York to Bombay Electric and Ogaan in Mumbai. From Anna Sui to Sabyasachi, Comme des Garçons to Anuradha Vakil, from Karl Lagerfeld to Manish Arora, the list of coveted designers is almost endless."
Beauty secrets:
"Sun block, moisturiser and some make-up, all of which act as protective bases for the face. I am a spa addict; I go for hair treatments at B: Blunt and body massages at Sva."
