Have Salman and Viveik become pals?

The love triangle and the bitterness surrounding it reached a peak two years ago. The 41 threatening calls made from Salman's mobile to Viveik's became a national obsession, as both fought evidently for the attentions of Aishwarya take a new turn.

The media parked outside the hospital and Salman’s house yesterday were stunned to see the Oberois — Viveik, Yashodhara and Suresh troop in to visit Salma Khan, who has been in Lilavati hospital for the last three days.

Viveik’s decision

With the crisis in the Khan family, the Oberois decided it was time to forget the past and start afresh. According to an insider, “It was Viveik’s decision to visit Salman’s family. He was thinking about it for two days and he finally decided not to deliberate so much, and just do what he felt right.”

After meeting Salman’s mother, he went to meet Salim Khan at his Galaxy apartments residence in Bandra, too.

Says a close family friend present at the hospital, “Viveik, his mom and dad came to the hospital at around 12.30 and the visit lasted around 20 minutes. Viveik came and did a namaste and touched Salma aunty’s feet. Salma aunty is in a suite on the 11th floor and the suite has a bedroom and hall.

Viveik and his parents went to meet Salma aunty in her bedroom and what one could gauge was that Viveik and his parents were telling her that ‘we are there for you always and if you need anything, let us know.’

They also told her that they’re supporting Salman all the way.” The source adds, “After meeting Salma aunty, they went to meet Salim uncle at his Bandra residence.”

Salim Khan sounds upset when we ask him about the Oberois’ visit. “Yes, they did come to meet me, but lots of people come to meet me. Mere bachchon ke problems hote hai and producers and directors come to meet me to sort them out.

My personal relationships with people are totally separate from my professional ones. I have had a personal relationship with him (Suresh Oberoi) and his family for many years. I’ve written so many scripts for Suresh over the years. I’ve never had any problems or a bad relationship with them ever, so if they came to meet me what’s the harm in that?”

But Viveik Oberoi and his parents were amongst the few who came to visit Salma Khan.

The film industry can certainly take some lessons from the Khans and Oberois on how to forgive and forget and support their own kith and kin when they’re in trouble. As Salman and his family have so often done for others in the past.
