| Bollywood's power couple finally tied the knot in a grand ceremony that held much of the nation in thrall - never mind if the only details of the closely guarded event that filtered out were grainy zoom shots from TV cameras stationed across the road.

The wedding took place at the Bachchan residence Pratiksha where Ash arrived with her family at 2.00 pm in a Mercedes car. The bungalow in Juhu was decorated with orange, yellow marigold flowers and banana leaves, quiet typical of the South Indian community (Bunt) to which Ash belongs.

Later in the day, around 5 pm, Abhishek, the groom, stepped out of the other Bachchan residence Jalsa, dressed as the dulha in a gold-embroidered white sherwani and his face covered with the traditional Indian sehra. Abhishek was apparently very happy and danced even as he sat on a horse with his nephew Agastya (sister Shweta’s son).

| Amitabh Bachchan and other members of the baraat were seen wearing saffron turbans. Anil Ambani, Ajay Devgan , A R Rahman , Ritesh Deshmukh and Ram Gopal Varma wore the turbans. Yash Chopra, Karan Johar, Ayan and Aman Ali Bangash, Tina Ambani, Kajol Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Bendre were also part of the procession.
Amitabh himself cheered the baraatis as the marriage procession moved to Pratiksha in a number of buses.
It took the baraat at least half an hour to get to Pratiksha. Members from the groom’s family danced to dhol beats in front of the wedding venue. By 6 pm Abhishek and the entire baraat had entered Pratiksha.

Meanwhile, celebrities kept coming in at the wedding venue. Among the guests were Rishi Kapoor, Nitu Singh, Prem Chopra, Shammi Kapoor , Preity Zinta with boyfriend Ness Wadia, Sanjay Dutt , Danny Denzongpa , J P Dutta, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Sachin Tendulkar.

It is learnt from a source that inside Pratiksha, Aishwarya, dressed as the bride, came to the marriage mandap in a palanquin. The saat phere were conducted according to the Hindu rites.
We caught up with the labourers who worked for the wedding to give a sneak peak into much talked about decorations inside Big B house "Babu, the decoration is so grand that even Taj Mahal will look like a tiny monument," Nurrudin Shaikh, a worker, says. "Those who are not in are really missing something in their life," he adds.
