Newly-wed film actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai on Sunday sought blessings of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala. Abhishek's father Amitabh Bach-chan, mother Jaya Bachchan, industrialist Anil Ambani and his wife Tina accompanied the couple.
The couple spent about 25 minutes in front of the presiding deity in the sanctum sanctorum. Chief priest A V Ramana Dikshithulu blessed the couple at the Sri Ranganayaka Mandapa in the temple, while temple officials offered sacred silk clothes, holy water and 'laddu prasadam' to the couple.

The couple later offered prayers at the sacred golden altar and at the traditional golden flag mast of the shrine.Pilgrims eager to have a glimpse of the couple triggered a stampede outside the temple. Nearly 55,000 pilgrims at the hill shrine had to wait in long queues for darshan. 

The Bachchan-Rai entourage was supposed to reach Tirumala hills by 7 am and finish darshan by 8.30 am. But they arrived one hour behind schedule. The TTD officials instead of beginning 'sarvadarshanam' at 8 am postponed it by two hours.
